These promotional materials were shared via the official X account for the series, which confirmed that the anime will return sometime in April 2025 with its second season.
As mentioned above, a title visual was also shared for Shoshimin season 2, revealing its subtitle of what’s currently being translated as “The Winter Limited Edition Bonbon Chocolat Incident.” The series also revealed three new cast members whose characters can be seen in the new promotional video and will officially debut in the second season.

The announcement trailer for Shoshimin season 2 primarily focuses on central characters Jogoro Kobato and Yuki Osanai. It starts with what seems to be a tense conversation between the pair, before shifting into multiple scenes of each in rapid succession. The trailer ends with the pair meeting up with two other characters, which seemingly leaves Kobato shocked given the expression on his face in this final scene.
The new cast members for the series include Teppei Uenishi, Yume Miyamoto, and Seiichiro Yamashita. Uenishi will play Takahiko Urino, a first-year Funato High student who is a member of the newspaper club and is attracted to Osanai. Miyamoto plays Tokiko Nakamura, one of Kobato’s classmates who confesses her feelings for him. Finally, Yamashita plays Yuto Hiyori, a classmate and friend of Urino’s.
All three characters will make their debut in the anime’s coming second season. Unfortunately, beyond the aforementioned title visual and promotional video, no other promotional material or information regarding the upcoming second season has been shared currently. However, fans can expect more information and promotional materials to be released as the final months of 2024 go by.
Shoshimin season 2 will serve as the continuation of the television anime adaptation of author Honobu Yonezawa’s original mystery novel series of the same name. The first novel was released in December 2004 and has six total entries in its catalog, two of them making up one part of the overall third entry each.
Mamoru Kanbe directed the anime at Lapin Track, with Toshiya Ono overseeing the series scripts, Atsushi Saito designing the characters, and Takahiro Obata composing the music.
The story centers on protagonist Jogoro Kobato, who wishes only to live a quiet and ordinary life following a painful experience he underwent. He meets Yuki Osanai, with whom he forms a mutually beneficial relationship since she also wants the same. They start high school together as classmates and plan to spend peaceful days as ordinary people. However, they continuously find themselves wrapped up in mysteries and disasters one after another, disrupting this peace.
