Friday, January 3, 2025 saw the Silent Witch anime officially announce its production, 2025 release window, and more via the release of a teaser promotional video. A key visual and character visual was also shared alongside the teaser trailer, also revealing the series’ starring cast members and the characters they’ll play.
While there isn’t much additional information on the Silent Witch anime from this initial announcement, fans can expect more news to be shared as 2025 progresses. Likewise, a Summer or Fall 2025 release window seems most likely for the series given that it’s being announced for 2025 in the year’s first week.
Silent Witch anime introduces fans to protagonist Monica Everett in short teaser trailer
As of this article’s writing, the Silent Witch anime has only confirmed a general 2025 release, not going any narrower in its window. However, the anime did excitingly reveal its starring cast. Saya Aizawa plays protagonist Monica Everett, featured in the teaser trailer and character visual. Hitomi Nabatame plays a black cat named Nero, while Junichi Suwabe will voice the character of Louis Miller. Nero is seen in the teaser, but Miller is wholly absent.
The key visual also lacks any sign of Miller, instead featuring just Everett and Nero. Unfortunately, no other cast or staff members were revealed in this initial batch of news for the series. However, fans can expect the next major announcement to reveal additional names and credits in both areas. That being said, it’s unclear when the next batch of information may come considering the series was only just announced for production today.
However, each of the Silent Witch anime’s three currently confirmed cast members are industry veterans with notable credits to their names. Nabatame, for example, is likely best known as the voice of Fruits Basket’s Mayuko Shiraki. Suwabe, meanwhile, has several notable roles, including as Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ryomen Sukuna and My Hero Academia’s Shota Aizawa. Finally, Aizawa is likely best known as the voice of Mushoku Tensei’s Norn Greyrat.
The television anime series will adapt author Matsuri Isora and illustrator Nanna Fujimi’s original light novels, fully titled Secrets of the Silent Witch. The series originally began as a web novel by Isora on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website, and has since also been adapted into a manga series since July 2021. Yen Press licenses the novels for English release, describing them as follows:
“Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world's only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually…super-duper shy! Yup, turns out she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince. Can Monica keep it together as she contends with both social interaction and the evils targeting the young royal?”
