Skip and Loafer Season 2 confirmed for production

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, Kodansha unveiled the cover of the Afternoon magazine's February 2025 issue, which confirmed the production of Skip and Loafer Season 2. However, the illustration didn't disclose the sequel's release date. Notably, the magazine will be officially released in Japan on December 24, 2024.

Skip and Loafer Season 2 will serve as a sequel to the previous installment, which aired 12 episodes from April 2023 to June 2023 under the production of P.A.Works. The series itself is based on the romance comedy manga, written and illustrated by Misaki Takamatsu.

Skip and Loafer Season 2 officially green-lit for production

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, the official website for Kodansha's Afternoon magazine listed the cover for its upcoming February 2025 issue. According to the cover illustration, Skip and Loafer Season 2 has been green-lit for production.

However, the visual didn't mention an exact release date or window for the sequel. Notably, the illustration features Mitsumi and her friends. According to Kodansha, the Afternoon Magazine February 2025 issue will ship on December 24, 2024. More information about Skip and Loafer Season 2 will be revealed in the future.

The first season premiered on April 4, 2023, on Tokyo MX, BS11, AT-X, and other pertinent syndications in Japan. Crunchyroll streamed the episodes as they aired in Japan. Tomoyo Kurosawa starred as Mitsumi Iwakura, while Akinori Egoshi voiced Sosuke Shima.

Other cast members included Manami Hanawa as Ryoko Asano, Yuka Terasaki as Mika Egashira, Yusuke Nagano as Kurisu Fukunaga, Katsumi Fukuhara as Takumi Hashimoto, Aki Toyosaki as Sakura Hanazono, Manami Hanawa as Kippei Iwakura, Ryohei Kimura as Narumi Kanechika, Risa Watanabe as Kawatani, and others.

Kotomi Deai was in charge of the first season's direction and series composition/scripts at the P.A. Works studios. Manami Umeshita, who had previously worked in Stella Women's Academy anime, was in charge of the character designs as the chief animation director. Takatsugu Wakabayashi composed the series' music.

About the series

Although an official synopsis for Skip and Loafer Season 2 hasn't been revealed yet, the rom-com anime will follow the narrative written by Misaki Takamatsu. The story follows Mitsumi Iwakura, a bright student, who always dreamed of leaving her small town and going to a reputed University.

However, Mitsumi becomes overtly focused on her goals and she forgets to prepare herself for the changes that await her. Luckily, she makes friends with Shima Sosuke in Tokyo High School, who happens to be extremely laid-back.

The series focuses on the naive country girl, who aspires to make it big in Tokyo. Since the previous installment covered the manga up to Chapter 23, Skip and Loafer Season 2 will pick up the adaptation from chapter 24 and showcase Mitsumi creating new memories with her friends in Tokyo.
