Monday, July 15, 2024 saw monetized Korean content platform KakaoPage officially announce the release date of the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok sequel webtoon series via their official X (formerly Twitter) account. The post also confirmed the webtoon’s official release date, currently slated for an August 2024 premiere on the official KakaoPage platform.
KakaoPage has also made the preorder page for Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s debut available, letting those dedicated fans get as early access as possible to the series. While KakaoPage does have a “free if you wait” system in place, it’s unclear as of this article’s writing whether or not the new series will qualify based on translated currently available information.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok hits KakaoPage platform on Thursday, August 1, 2024 in Korean Standard Time
Per KakaoPage’s latest post on the series as of this article’s writing, the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok webtoon adaptation is set to premiere on the platform on Thursday, August 1, 2024. It’s unclear what time exactly the series will premiere as of this article’s writing, but the date will most likely function off of the Korean Standard Time (KST) timezone in terms of date.
The sequel webtoon will be written by Daul, who is set to replace Chugong, the writer of the original series. Chugong has confirmed his support for Daul, saying that he still experienced the same emotions he felt when he first began the original series despite being uninvolved in its production. Chugong specifically stated that he’ll cheer Daul on, congratulating him on the start of this new story.
Artist JIN from REDICE STUDIO will illustrate the sequel. Former REDICE CEO Dubu, also known as Jang Sung-rak. Dubu sadly passed away on July 23, 2022 after suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage. Dubu was previously replaced in the franchise for a side story of the original webtoon published between January and May 2023. Author Chugong returned, but enlisted a new art team given Dubu’s passing.
The original Solo Leveling: Ragnarok web novel has been serialized in English on the Tapas platform since January 3, 2024. The series debuted with a one-chapter prologue before releasing 49 chapters just three days later. The series is scheduled for regular release on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday each week, and most recently released its 130th chapter. The web novel is officially described:
“The Earth's existence is under threat once more as Itarim, the gods of other universes, seek to fill the void left by the Absolute Being. Sung Jinwoo has no choice but to send Beru, the shadow ant king, to awaken his son's powers and start him on the journey he once took. Suho must conquer the shadow dungeon and earn his place in the world of hunters as he navigates through a new world against a new evil looking to swallow the world whole."
