Solo Leveling: Ragnarok's English release starts November 2024

Friday, November 1, 2024 saw the platform Tapas reveal a trailer for the English release of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, revealing the English release date of Monday, November 11, 2024. The English version of the webcomic will be released through the Tapas platform, with new chapters releasing in English on a weekly basis following the premiere.

Solo Leveling: Ragnarok originally launched on Kakao Page on August 1, 2024, but had no information on its English translation’s status and release until today. The series is a sequel to the original Solo Leveling web novel and webcomic, which was recently adapted into an anime for the Winter 2024 anime season.

The aforementioned trailer for the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok webcomic opens with a focus on protagonist Sung Suho, son of Sung Jinwoo who was the original series’ protagonist. He’s seen saving a woman from a monster despite lacking any power since it’s what his dad would do. However, after doing so, a System dialogue box pops up, telling Suho he has “fulfilled all the requirements for Secret Quest: Courage of the Weak” as the trailer ends.

Artist JIN and adaptor Brix, both of REDICE studios, launched the webcomic based on Daul’s original story. Daul launched the web novel version of the story on Kakao Page in April 2023, which is still ongoing. Tapas has also released the original web novel version in English since January 3, 2024. The late DUBU, who illustrated the original webcomic, was a former CEO of REDICE studios.

DUBU illustrated the original Solo Leveling webcomic series as an adaptation of author Chugong’s original web novel. The series was generally published in varying forms from July 2016 to June 2019, followed by a final chapter in December 2021. DUBU, also known as Jang Sung-rak, tragically passed away in July 2022 due to a brain hemorrhage caused by chronic illness he battled throughout the original series’ run.

The second season of the television anime adaptation of the original series is titled Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-. The season premieres in January 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming the second season internationally. The Solo Leveling: Ragnarok sequel series is described as follows by Kakao Page:

“Solo Leveling: Ragnarok follows Sung Suho, son of the legendary Sung Jinwoo, as he faces a new and terrifying threat in the aftermath of the death of one of the creators of the multiverse, the Absolute Ones."

It continues:

"With a dangerous power vacuum now destabilizing reality, gates once again open to release fearsome monsters into Earth's dimension. Suho, now tasked with saving the world, must conquer the perilous shadow dungeon and confront his father's powerful legacy in this action-packed continuation.”
