On Sunday, January 5, 2025, Solo Leveling Season 2 broke its Season 1 record on Crunchyroll for the most liked premiere episode. In less than 24 hours, Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 reached 129k likes, a record far surpassing the numbers set by its Season 1 premiere.
Solo Leveling, written by Chugong, is a web novel series that later received a webtoon adaptation by Dubu. Both the web novel and webtoon series were serialized in KakaoPage. A-1 Pictures picked up the series for an anime adaptation. The anime released its first season in Winter 2024 and premiered its second season on January 5, 2025.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 becomes the most-liked premiere
Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 premiered on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 12 AM JST on Crunchyroll. As per reports, the anime episode became the most-liked premiere episode on the platform, reaching 129k likes in less than 24 hours. The same record was previously held by Solo Leveling Season 1 Episode 1 which reached 114k likes in nearly two days.
According to another report, Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow premiere reached 100k likes in just 11 hours. In doing so, it became the fastest anime on Crunchyroll to reach 100k likes.
When comparing the likes reached by both premiere episodes, Solo Leveling Season 1 premiere has reached 199.6k likes, accumulated over a year. As for the Solo Leveling Season 2 premiere, it has reached 164.8k likes that have accumulated in less than two days since the anime's premiere.
With such numbers, it is projected that the Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow premiere will soon become the most-liked anime episode on the platform.
It is also to be noted that the anime episode was previously released as part of the Solo Leveling: ReAwakening movie. As fans may remember, the anime movie was to feature the recap for series' first season and a preview for the second season. The second season preview essentially featured the anime's first two episodes, released a month before its television premiere.
So, realistically, Solo Leveling Season 2 premiere shouldn't have surpassed the numbers set by its previous season. Hence, only time will tell how well the remaining episodes of the anime will perform.
