The Japanese visual novel studio, Key, announced the adaptation of Summer Pockets anime on Saturday, June 29, 2024. The adaptation is based on the visual novel of the same name. According to the announcement, the anime is set to release in 2025.

The official staff has streamed a teaser promotional video and unveiled details regarding the cast and staff. Moreover, a teaser visual for the visual novel-based anime has also been revealed.

Visual Arts/Key company originally launched a visual for Summer Pockets novel for PC in June 2018 in Japan. Later, the game was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. A new version, titled Summer Pockets REFLECTION BLUE, serving as an updated version of the previous game, was later released for PC, mobile, Switch, and PS4.

The visual novel studio, Visual Arts/Key announced on Saturday, June 29, 2024, that Summer Pockets anime, based on the eponymous visual novel game, is set to premiere in 2025. A new website and X account were opened to share a promotional video and a visual.

The PV features a scenic view of an ocean, with a seagull flying, representing the zest of Summer. The short clip then transitions to a supernatural butterfly being reduced to nothingness. After that, the video shows a girl with long hair, walking on the shores.

Undoubtedly, the PV heightens, throws many questions to the audiences, and hypes the release of the Summer Pockets anime. Fans should note that the staff had earlier revealed in December 2021 that the anime was in the works.

Along with the teaser trailer, the anime's official site and X handle have shared a visual featuring the same woman on the shore. The visual vibrantly brings out the essence of Summer, with a blue sky, an island, and the shore.


Cast, staff, and the plot of Summer Pockets anime

The cast and staff for the Summer Pockets anime have been revealed. Shoya Chiba stars in this Summer-themed anime as Hairi Takahara, while Natsumi Takamori voices Ao Sorakado.

Konomi Kohara plays Shiroha Naruse's role, while Emiri Iwai lends her voice to Tsumugi Wenders. Nene Hieda has joined the voice cast as Kamome Kushime. Tomomi Mineuchi previously voiced the character in the visual novel before she quit voice acting in December 2022.

Tomoki Kobayashi, renowned for his contributions to Akame ga Kill!, serves as the director for this title at Studio Feel, while Keiichiro Ochi is listed as the script supervisor.

Shinji Orito, Jun Maeda, Tomohiro Takeshita, Donmaru, Ryo Mizutsuki, and Shuhei Ohashi are enlisted as composers. Mai Otsuka from Non-Non Biyori has joined the staff as the character designer.

Based on the Key's visual novel, the anime follows Hairi Takahara, a high school student, who arrives at Torishirojima island during the Summer break to sort out her grandmother's belongings. On this captivating island, she meets various people, who show her a worldview she didn't know existed.
