Netflix releases Terminator Zero anime key visual and trailer
The official trailer for the anime Terminator Zero was released by Netflix, revealing numerous potential plot points while also triggering nostalgia among fans of the old Terminator movies and the Ghost in the Shell series. The trailer primarily showcased the dreadful atmosphere of a world soon to be completely taken over by Skynet. The anime will be produced by Skydance and Production I.G.
The trailer also displayed a much colder and more sinister take on the Terminators, in contrast to the more watered-down versions in recent media, much to the delight of fans. Mattson Tomlin, who has previously worked on The Batman and The Sea Beast, will be the writer and one of the executive producers, while Masashi Kudo will be the director of the Terminator Zero anime.
Masashi Kudo has previously worked on Akudama Drive and Black Butler and has served as Chief Animation Director in the Bleach TYBW anime, also working on character designs for the anime. Production I.G has also worked on series such as Ghost in the Shell, further raising anticipation for this series.
While the exact place of the Terminator Zero anime's plot in the franchise hasn't yet been confirmed, many fans hope it will be a disconnected story from the recent movie releases. The key visual depicted a child holding the hand of a Terminator, leading many fans to believe the series might have a storyline similar to Terminator 1 and 2.
The complete cast hasn't been revealed, but Timothy Olyphant, André Holland, Rosario Dawson, and Ann Dowd will be taking the roles of Terminator, Malcolm Lee, Koroko, and The Prophet, respectively in the upcoming Terminator Zero anime which will be exclusively available on Netflix.
