On June 8, 2024, during a special event of the anime series, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You season 2 was announced to be released in January 2025. A new teaser visual and new cast members were also revealed during the event. The special event started on June 7 and will continue till June 15, 2024.
The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You is based on a manga series written by Nakamura Rikito and illustrated by Nozawa Yukiko. The first season of the anime aired in the fall of 2023, and the sequel, announced in December 2024, is set to air in January 2025.

The new teaser visual features the series' protagonist, Aijou Rentarou, the six girlfriends he made in the first season, and four new characters, namely Kurumi Harage, Iku Sutou, Mimimi Utsukushisugi, and Meme Kakure. The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You season 2 release window was also revealed, which is in January 2025.
The four new characters present in the teaser visual were also added to the anime series with their voice castings. Kurumi Harage will be voiced by Amane Shindou (Mashiro from BanG Dream! Morfonication), Iku Sutou by Rie Takahashi (Megumin from Konosuba), Mimimi Utsukushisugi by Lynn (Sakura from I want to eat your pancreas), and Meme Kakure by Kanon Takao (Hermit from Edens Zero).
The first season aired on October 8, 2023, and was animated by Bibury Animation Studios. Besides this series, the studio has some other famous projects, including The Quintessential Quintuplets season 2 and Prima Doll.
The anime's source, a manga series, started its serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump on December 26, 2019, and published its first volume (Japanese) on April 17, 2020.
On July 2, 2021, Seven Seas Entertainment announced the manga series' serialization in English and published its first volume on February 22, 2022. As of this article's publication, the manga series has 17 volumes in Japanese and 12 in English.

However, fans can expect the sequel to focus on the new characters and their progressing relationship with the protagonist, Aijou Rentarou, similar to the first season.
The anime is a rom-com series centered around the unfortunate protagonist, Aijou Rentarou, who is standing at the matchmaking shrine after facing his 100th rejection. Fortunately, the shrine's God pays a visit to the protagonist and tells him that he will meet 100 soulmates in his life so he shouldn't get depressed.
Upon hearing this news, Rentarou returns to school and immediately encounters two girls who are destined to be his soulmates. However, the shrine God forgot to tell Rentarou that if he didn't get into a relationship with any of these 100 soulmates, they would die immediately. With such a big responsibility now in the hands of the protagonist without his knowledge, will Rentarou complete a century of relationships?
