Saturday, June 8, 2024, saw a streamed special for The Elusive Samurai anime television series reveal a new promotional video for the anime, confirming its July 2024 release date. The full release date and time, as well as the Japanese broadcast channels on which the series will premiere in Japan, were confirmed in the new trailer.

In addition, it was also announced that The Elusive Samurai anime cast members Asaki Yuikawa, Yuichi Nakamura, and Hinaki Yano will appear at an advance premiere screening. The screening is set to take place at Kamakura City in Japan on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Yano also hosted the aforementioned streamed special.

The Elusive Samurai anime is the television anime adaptation of author and illustrator Yusei Matsui’s original manga series of the same name. The series began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump publication magazine in January 2021, where it is still ongoing and regularly serialized today.

As per the series’ latest promotional video, The Elusive Samurai anime is set to premiere on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:30 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST). The series will debut on the Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, and Gunma TV channels, and run on 26 additional channels later on. Both domestic Japanese and international streaming information for the series are yet to be confirmed as of this writing.

The aforementioned rookie voice actress Yuikawa stars as protagonist Hojo Tokiyuki, with Nakamura co-starring as Suwa Yorishige. Yano will play Shizuku, while the additional cast includes Mari Hino as Kojiro, Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako, Aoi Yuki as Kazama Genba, and Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki. Yuta Yamazaki is directing the anime at CloverWorks, with Yasushi Nishiya designing the characters.

The Elusive Samurai anime also announced a web radio show titled The Young Master of Radio. The series will be hosted by Yuikawa and Yano, who will be in character as Hojo and Shizuku, respectively. There's no further information at this time, but the series' official website promises more updates soon.

Both Viz Media and MANGA Plus publish new translated chapters of the manga digitally as they’re released in Japan. The former also licenses the manga for English release, with 133 of its 158 currently released chapters compiled into 15 volumes, with a 16th volume releasing in Japan in July. Of these 16, 11 have been translated into English, with a 12th coming in August.
