On December 23, 2024, Warner Bros Pictures announced the digital release date of The Lord of the Rings anime film (The War of the Rohirrim) on December 27, 2024. The film aired internationally on December 13, 2024, and has the highest earnings in Spain and Mexico.

The anime film is based on a popular novel's characters created by J. R. R. Tolkien. The anime film was announced in June 2021 and was produced by four studios. The film honored the memory of Bernard Hill, an actor who played the role of a character from the novel's film adaptation.

As revealed by Warner Bros Pictures, one of the anime film's production studios, The Lord of the Rings anime film (titled Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim) is set to be released online from Friday, December 27, 2024. The platforms on which the anime film will be released include Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and Amazon Prime Video.

In June 2021, the anime film was announced by Warner Bros Pictures on the occasion of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the novel's film trilogy. While the majority of the anime film's staff members are non-Japanese, The Lord of the Rings anime film is known for featuring one of the industry professionals from Japan, Kenji Kamiyama.

Kenji Kamiyama is mostly associated with animation studio Production I.G. He is known for his roles in anime like Akira (background artist), Eden of the East (director and original creator), Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex (director), and Ultraman (director).

Similar to the staff members, the voice casting was also mostly non-Japanese. The anime film was produced by these production houses: New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Animation, Sola Entertainment, WingNut Films, Domain Entertainment, and Middle-earth Enterprises. Sola Entertainment is a Japanese production house known for producing Tower of God and Ninja Kamui.

The Lord of the Rings anime film is an adventure-action film taking place 183 years before the novel's film trilogy. The anime film tells the tale of Helm Hammerhand, the leader of his house, who is attacked by a lord who is seeking revenge for the death of his father.

Due to this, Helm and his soldiers were forced into battle and the leader had to leave his house behind, unattended. In all this mess, Hera, the daughter of Helm, must make ends meet and survive the same danger as his father did.
