The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival anime serves as an adaptation of author Biyori Harunohi and Yu Hitaki's eponymous light novel series. The series was initially launched as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website. TO Books has been publishing light novels since April 2021.

The light novel series has published five tankobon volumes thus far, with the sixth volume slated to be released on January 15, 2025. Notably, the series has a serialized manga adaptation on Nico Nico Seiga's website with Kobato Wakasa's illustration.

The official website for The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival anime has shared a short synopsis for the series. According to the synopsis, the narrative for the series follows Alicia, a young girl orphaned by a tragic monster attack on her village. Without a family, Alicia is forced to spend her horrid days within the four walls of an orphanage.

Yet, life in the orphanage doesn't suit her, as she eventually runs away. However, while escaping, she has an encounter with an older woman who wants to kill her. During the tussle, Alicia comes across a strange crystal that endows her with a wealth of knowledge.

Thus, she transforms from an innocent child into a calculated strategist. Alicia realizes she was meant to become the protagonist of an otome game. Thus, she takes her fate into her own hands and decides to become strong by hook or crook. Using her profound knowledge, Alicia learns to survive in a world incredibly harsh for a young woman her age.
