Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 is set to premiere in January 2025 (Winter 2025). This was confirmed by the anime's official staff via a teaser PV on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Additionally, it was announced that the four episodes of the After-School Hanako-kun anime's sequel will be aired on TBS for four weeks, starting October 7, 2024.
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 serves as a sequel to the original season, which aired 12 episodes from January 2020 to March 2020. The series itself is an adaptation of the eponymous manga series, written by Iro and illustrated by Aida (conjointed as Aidaro). A sequel project titled After-School Hanako-kun was released in October of last year and ran for four episodes.
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 trailer and visual confirm the January 2025 release date
On Sunday, July 28, 2024, the official staff held the Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun Kamome Gakuen Summer Festival event at the Animate Theatre in Tokyo. In this event, the staff revealed a new promotional video and logo for the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 and a trailer for the After-School Hanako-kun sequel.
According to the PV, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 will air its episodes every Sunday on 28 TBS-affiliated channels in Japan at 4:30 pm JST starting in January 2025. On the other hand, the sequel to the After-School Hanako-kun short anime will release four episodes from October 7, 2024, i.e., in Fall 2024, on TBS.
The promotional video for the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 depicts Nene and Hanako investigating many supernatural mysteries, along with Kou Minamoto and Aoi Akane. Other important characters from the original work are shown in the teaser trailer.
Moreover, the PV subtly teases the narrative for season 2. Likewise, the official staff has shared a teaser promotional video for the After-School Hanako-kun sequel, showcasing Hanako, Nene, and other characters.
The promotional video has confirmed that Studio Lerche will continue as the production studio for Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2. Additionally, the short clip revealed that Yohei Fukui has replaced Masaomi Ando as the main series' director.
Megumi Ogata starred as Hanako-kun in season 1, with Akari Kito as Nene Yashiro. Shoya Chiba voiced Kou Minamoto, while Daiki Kobayashi played the role of Sosuke Mitsuba. Minako Sato starred as Aoi Akane and Kenjiro Tsuda was Tsuchigomori.
Crunchyroll streamed the first season of this horror anime globally as it aired in Japan. The narrative follows an occult-loving high school student, Nene Yashiro, who accidentally discovers that Hanako-kun, the legendary ghost, in the Kamome Academy is not a girl but a boy.
She develops a bond with him, becoming his assistant. Together with Hanako-kun, Nene Yashiro discovers a hidden world of supernatural beings. The anime follows the story of Hanako-kun and Nene as they investigate mysterious cases, all the while staying out of trouble themselves.
