Saturday, October 9, 2024, saw the official website for the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 television anime series reveal its Sunday, January 12, 2025 release date in a new trailer. The series will premiere in Japan on 28 TBS affiliate channels and will air new episodes every Sunday at 4:30 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST).

The roughly 60-second-long new trailer for Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 primarily focuses on introducing both returning and new characters alike. In addition, the official website for the series also revealed two new character visuals and the opening theme song for the highly anticipated second season.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 officially premieres in early January 2025

While Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 has now been confirmed for an official Sunday, January 12, 2025 release date in Japan, international streaming info has still yet to be clarified. However, the series has been previously streamed on Crunchyroll. While it’s possible that it may move to a different platform for season 2, the series will more likely than not return to Crunchyroll with its sequel.

The two new character visuals are for Akane Aoi, who is voiced by Shunichi Toki. One visual features Aoi in his regular form and the other in his Clock Keeper form. The new season will feature a returning cast for recurring roles, but there are several new cast members joining the series in its sequel as well. The opening theme song for the second season will be L’oN by Masayoshi Oishi.

Yohei Fukui is directing the main second season at Lerche studios and will replace the first season's director, Masaomi Ando. Fukui was notably the episode director for the tenth episode of the first season. Yasuhiro Nakanishi, who will be in charge of the series scripts, and character designer Mayuka Itou are both returning from the anime’s first season. Other various staff members in less notable positions are also returning from season 1.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun season 2 will serve as the continuation of the television anime adaptation of author Iro and illustrator Aida’s original manga series of the same name. The two publish the work under “AidaIro,” a conjoining of their two names. The manga began in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine in June 2014 and is still ongoing today with 22 compilation volumes. Yen Press releases the manga in English, describing it as follows:

"''Hanako-san, Hanako-san...are you there?''"
"At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school's Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls' bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom...but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy's Hanako-san...is a boy!"
