Sunday, September 29, 2024, saw the official X account for Tower of God season 2 reveal significant new information for the anime’s upcoming Workshop Battle Arc. Chiefly, a key visual and promotional video was released, with the trailer revealing and previewing the new opening theme for the series.

Additionally, the series announced two new cast members joining the series for the Workshop Battle Arc - Hidenori Takahashi and Chiaki Kobayashi. Tower of God season 2’s new opening and ending theme songs will be performed by Stray Kids, a South Korean boy band under JYP Entertainment. They previously performed both the opening and ending theme songs for the first season, titled TOP and SLUMP, respectively.

Takahashi will be playing Reflejo in Tower of God season 2, while Kobayashi will be playing Po Bidau Gustang, a member of one of the Ten Great Families. Both appeared in the anime’s 13th episode, which was officially released on September 29. The Workshop Battle Arc will officially begin in the anime’s 14th episode and be officially released next Sunday, October 6.

The new key visual features Bam (still in his Jue Viole Grace design) front and center, with Wangnan Ja, Rak Wraithraiser, and Khun Aguero Agnes in front of him. To his left is Endorsi Jahad, and to his right is Hwaryun. Above him in a cloaked guise is Rachel, with her new FUG teammates notably being absent in the visual.

The promotional video previews both the opening theme songs, titled NIGHT, performed by Stray Kids. The visuals show the theme’s animated sequence, opening with a focus on Bam and his origins and conflict as Jue Viole Grace. A similar focus shifts to Wangnan Ja for the second half of the sequence, teasing scenes from the upcoming Workshop Battle and other characters until the ending.

Kazuyoshi Takeuchi serves as chief director for the second season with Kei Suzuki replacing Takashi Sano as director at The Answer Studio. The first season was directed by Sano at Telecom Animation Film. Erika Yoshida is back in charge of the series scripts, also co-writing the scripts alongside Takeshi Miyamoto and Riuji Yoshizaki.

Miho Tanino returns in character design with Seigo Kitazwa and Isamitsu Kashima. Kitazawa is also the chief animation director, and Kevin Penkin will return to compose music. Season 2’s first opening theme song was titled Rise Up, and the first ending theme song was Believe. Both songs were performed by NiziU, a Japanese girl group also under JYP Entertainment, the same entertainment that manages Stray Kids.

The second season serves as the continuation of the television anime adaptation of author and illustrator SIU’s original manhwa with the same name.
