Tuesday, September 10, 2024 saw the title, release date, and more for the new Utano☆Princesama Maji LOVE anime film be revealed via the project’s official website. The film is titled Gekijōban Utano☆Princesama♪ TABOO NIGHT XXXX (read as: TABOO NIGHT KISSES) and will open in Japanese theaters on Friday, May 9, 2025.

In addition to the above, the new Utano☆Princesama Maji LOVE anime film also revealed a new key visual featuring its central quartet and the film’s full title. The series’ staff was also announced, notably featuring many veteran staff to both the franchise specifically and the anime industry in general.

The new key visual for the Utano☆Princesama Maji LOVE anime film features the four main characters: Reiji Kotobuki, Ranmaru Kurosaki, Ai Mikaze, and Camus. All four appear in regal garb and holding a rose matching their corresponding primary color. The new key visual also features the film’s full title and logo at the bottom of the page. The four are played by Showtaro Morikobu, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Shota Aoi, and Tomoaki Maeno, respectively.

They make up the QUARTET NIGHT unit together and will use their new single “TABOO NIGHT XXXX” as the film’s main theme song. The insert song “JINN-Ω-RAY” will also be performed by the group. Both will be released on December 25, 2024. Elements Garden is composing the music for the film, while Shochiku will distribute the film. Noriyasu Agematsu is credited as the original creator along with Broccoli.

Takeshi Furuta is the film’s chief director, with Akiko Seki directing the anime at A-1 Pictures. Chinatsu Kuruhana returns to the franchise and is credited for the film’s original character designs, having previously received the same credit on several other franchise films and series. Maki Fujioka is the character designer, while Hiroshi Nakajima is the CG animation director. Takeshi Okawa is the sub CG director, and Katsuyoshi Miyajima is the character modeling director. All but Furuta and Seki have previously worked on the franchise.

Unfortunately, not much is known about the film’s plot as of this article’s writing, with the Utano☆Princesama Maji LOVE anime film’s official website only opening today. Likewise, no promotional video is available as of this article’s writing but will likely be revealed in the coming weeks and months prior to the film’s release. The film has also provided no information regarding a potential international release at this time.

The Utano☆Princesama franchise first began with Brocoli’s dating simulation video game of the same name. The game was then adapted into a television anime series, which premiered in Japan in July 2011, having run for four seasons as of this article’s writing.
