On Friday, November 15, 2024, the official website and X handle of the Whisper Me a Love Song anime revealed that the show's final two episodes (11 and 12) will be broadcast consecutively on December 29, 2024, at 1:45 am JST on TV Asahi and its affiliated channels, as well as on ABEMA channel. At the same time, the official staff unveiled a new Cultural Festival arc visual to celebrate the two episodes' release.
Produced by Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts, Whisper Me a Love Song anime serves as an adaptation of the eponymous Japanese Yuri manga series, written and illustrated by Eku Takeshima. Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine has been serializing the Yuri manga since April 2019, with 10 tankobon volumes published thus far.
Whisper Me a Love Song anime returns with two-episode finale on December 29, 2024
The official staff for the Whisper Me a Love Song anime confirmed on Friday, November 15, 2024, that the series will air and stream its final two episodes, i.e., episodes 11 and 12, consecutively on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 1:45 am JST (stylized as Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 25:45 JST) on TV Asahi and its affiliated networks, and on ABEMA. International fans can watch the episodes on HIDIVE.
The Yuri anime premiered on April 13, 2024, in TV Asahi's NUMAnimation programming timeslot after an initial delay, which pushed the anime to Spring 2024 from Winter 2024. However, the production issues didn't end there. Episodes 9 and 10 were delayed by two weeks and aired in late June 2024.
Simultaneously, the staff mentioned that the production team would reveal a broadcast date for episodes 11 and 12 at a later date. As a result, the Blu-ray release date was also pushed back. The first Blu-ray disc volume, originally slated for release on September 13, 2024, has now been delayed to January 31, 2025.
Likewise, the second volume has been postponed from October 11, 2024, to February 28, 2025. The third Blu-ray volume has also been delayed from December 13, 2024, to April 30, 2025.
Besides the new release schedule for the final two episodes, the official staff for the Whisper Me a Love Song anime unveiled a new visual called the Culture Festival Edition. The visual sets up the Culture Festival arc for the final two episodes. The illustration features the SSGIRLS bassist Aki Mizuguchi and Lorelei guitarist and vocalist Shiho Izumi facing the crowd and passionately singing.
Cast and staff for Whisper Me a Love Song anime
Whisper Me a Love Song anime stars Hana Shimano as Himari Kino and Asami Seto as Yori Asanagi. Other cast members include Konomi Kohara as Mari Tsutsui, Yuna Nemoto as Shiho, Ai Kakuma as Kaori Tachibana, Mikako Komatsu as Aki Mizuguchi, Nao Toyama as Kyo Amasawa, Reina Ueda as Momoka, and others.
Akira Mano replaces Xin Ya Cai as the anime's director in the joint production by Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts. Hiroki Uchida is in charge of the scripts, with Minami Yoshida serving as the character designer. Wataru Maeguchi and Hiroshi Sasaki are enlisted as music composers.
Based on Eku Takeshima's manga, the Yuri anime centers on Himari, a bubbly, energetic first-year student who falls in love with her senior, Yori, once she hears her perform with the school's band. One day, she confesses her feelings to Yori. However, Himari wonders what "love" truly means when she realizes that she and her senior are feeling two different types of love.
