On December 30, 2024, the official X account of the World Trigger manga announced its hiatus for a month, setting its return in Match 2025. The hiatus is for the author to gather new research material and work on the series' upcoming volume.

World Trigger manga is written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara. The manga started its serialization in February 2013 and has 27 published volumes (all in Japanese and 26 in English). The series has three seasons of anime adaptations, all animated by Toei Animation.

As per the official tweet of the World Trigger manga, the series will not publish its new chapter in Shueisha's Jump SQ's February 2025 Issue (set to be released on January 5, 2025). The new chapter will be published in Shueisha's Jump SQ's March 2025 Issue, set to be released on February 4, 2025.

The hiatus is to give the author, Daisuke Ashihara, enough time to work on his manga's future volume. This includes collecting ideas and other things related to a mangaka's research.

World Trigger manga started its serialization in Shueisha's popular Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, where manga authors publish chapters weekly. However, the author's health started taking a toll almost three years after publishing in this magazine. So, the series went on a two-year-long hiatus due to the author's poor health.

The series returned in December 2018 and transferred to Shueisha's Jump Square magazine, where chapters are published monthly. After joining this magazine, the series took breaks in August 2023 and January 2024.

The series also received an anime adaptation by Toei Animation (One Piece) that continued for three seasons. Some of the main voice cast include Tomo Muranaka (William Moriarity from Moriarity the Patriot) portraying Yuuma Kuga, Yuuichi Nakamura (Shido from Blue Lock) playing Yuuichi Jin, and Yuuki Kaji (Meliodas from Seven Deadly Sins) voicing Osamu Mikumo.

The manga is a sci-fi series taking place in a fictional world where gates to another world are opened. From these gates emerge malicious creatures called the 'Neighbours.' To control these threats, the world established a team of fighters called the Border Defense Agency.

These special groups of fighters use 'Triggers,' special weapons, to fight against these monsters, forbidding them from taking over the world. Yuuma Kuga and Osamu Mikumi are in-training members of the Border Defense Agency, but their existence might hold some secrets that could change the world and its perspective on 'Neighbours' forever.
