You and Idol Precure anime announces February 2025 release, plot, cast, and staff with PV

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the official staff opened a new website and shared a promotional video for You and Idol Precure anime. According to the latest information, the series is set to premiere on February 2, 2025. The website has also posted the anime's plotline, cast, and staff.

You and Idol Precure anime serves as the 22nd main anime entry of the Pretty Cure (Precure) franchise created by Izumi Todo. Each series in this franchise revolves around magical girls, commonly known as Pretty Cures, who combat against evil forces. ABC TV, ABC Animation, ADK Emotions, and Toei Animations are in charge of the series' production.

You and Idol Precure anime's promotional video reveals February 2, 2025 release date

On January 5, 2025, TV Asahi and Toei Animation opened a new website for the Pretty Cure franchise's 22nd main anime entry, You and Idol Precure anime. A new PV and key visual are added to the website. According to the short clip, the idol-themed anime will release its episodes every Sunday from 8:30 am JST, on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and 22 other affiliated networks across Japan, starting February 2, 2025.

The series will also be broadcast on the BSS Sanin channel every Sunday from 6:15 am JST starting February 9, 2025. Additionally, the series will be digitally distributed on ABEMA, Prime Video, Bandai Channel, d Anime Store, Hulu, DMM TV, and other services in Japan.

Cast and staff for You and Idol Precure anime

According to the official website, Misato Matsuoka has joined the voice cast as Cure Idol, Uta Sakura, while Minami Takahashi stars as Cure Wink, Nana Aokaze. The other cast member is Natsumi Takamori as Cure Kyun-Kyun, Kororo Shigure. The latest key visual for the You and Idol Precure anime features the main characters, as well as the fairies, Purirun and Meloron.

Coming to the main staff, Chiaki Kon is directing the magical girls anime at Toei Animation, with Yoichi Kato supervising the series scripts. Miho Sugimoto designs the characters, while Rie Iida is the art designer. Kumiko Yanagisawa is credited as the color key artist, while Tong Nian Chen is the art director. Misaki Umase and Erika Fukasawa are enlisted as music composers.

Chihaya Yoshitake and Ami Ishii have sung the opening theme song, Kimi to idol Precure, Light Up!, with Akane Kumada making her debut. On the other hand, the voice actors of Cure Idol, Cure Kyun-Kyun, and Cure Wink (the main cast), have performed the ending theme, Trio Dreams.

The plot for You and Idol Precure anime

As per the website, the upcoming entry in the Pretty Cure franchise is set in Hanamichi Town, where Uta Sakura, a second-year middle school girl is fond of singing. One day, while walking her puppy, Kyu-chan, she finds a huge peach-like object floating down the river.

Uta Sakura then encounters Purirun, a fairy, who searches for the legendary savior, Idol Precure. Apparently, Purirun's home, Kira-Kira land, is threatened by Darkiine, the boss of the Chokkiri gang. Shortly after that, the evil gang steals the Sparkle from the Hanamichi Town's residents. With great resolve, Uta proclaims she wants to sparkle with her song and transforms into Cure Idol.
