Dandadan manga author announces hiatus to decide the future of the story
Dandadan first marked its debut on April 6, 2021, and has already completed nine arcs. Although the manga struggled to gain mainstream popularity during its early chapters due to oversaturation and the presence of other more popular shonen series, it has recently gained much attention due to receiving an anime adaptation by Studio Science Saru.
This manga has a reputation for being one of the most artistic and fun stories to have come out in recent times. The Dandadan manga recently concluded its Danmanra arc with its first actual title namedrop since chapter 1.
Although many fans expected the story to continue after Dandadan chapter 163, it was recently announced that Yukinobu Tatsu will be going on a break, and the manga will enter a hiatus for August.
This was revealed along with the fact that Yukinobu Tatsu will be taking the break to research information for the upcoming arcs of the story. The manga resumes serialization from chapter 164, which will be released on September 2, 2024, and will be available for reading on Shueisha's MANGA Plus platform.
Many fans have expressed their distress due to the break, but they have also acknowledged how this might be the best decision for the author. It seems especially well-planned since the Dandadan manga has merged several genres like mecha, supernatural, comedy, action, and mystery while being praised by almost the entire fandom.
The Dandadan manga series has also been confirmed for an anime adaptation that will be done by Science Saru, who have previously animated series like Devilman Crybaby, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
The Dandadan anime will be released in October 2024, but the actual release date is yet to be revealed. Dandadan will also have an early premiere as a theatrical release from late August to early September.
