NieR: Automata Ver1.1a cour 2 was confirmed immediately after the last four episodes of the first cour were released on July 23, 2023. As announced recently, the second installment will premiere on July 5, 2024, at 11:30 pm JST on the Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, BS11, Gunma TV, and other important channels in Japan.

Besides the announcement of the second cour’s release date, the character designer and the chief animation director surprised the audience with a unique black-and-white key visual. The illustration featured all three characters from the storyline, including 2B, 9S, and A2.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a cour 2 will debut on July 5, 2024

As stated above, NieR: Automata Ver1.1a cour 2 will be released on July 5, 2024, and given the time difference, it will be released in the U.S., around 10:00 am ET. The second installment can be streamed exclusively on Crunchyroll, the only anime streaming giant to include the series in its massive catalog.

All episodes of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a cour 1 are also available on the platform in both sub and dub formats. Cour 2 also dropped a promotional teaser featuring the upcoming events and the opening theme song titled Black Box, by LiSA.

The first cour of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a premiered on January 2023, and was one of the best anime besides Ayakashi Triangle, UniteUp!, and The Misfit of the Demon King Academy to be facing scheduling issues due to COVID-19. While the fourth episode got delayed for a month, the last four installments were dropped altogether after three months on July 23, 2023.

  • Kaoru Akiyama as Pod 153 (Tanko Izumi in Detective Conan)
  • Daisuke Namikawa as Adam (Ran Haitani in Tokyo Revengers, Hisoka Morow in Hunter x Hunter)
  • Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Eve (Ben in Seven Deadly Sins, Ken Ryuuguji in Tokyo Revengers)
  • Aoi Yuki as Pascal (Mami Nanami in Rent-a-Girlfriend, Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries)
  • Chiaki Kanō as Commander White (Otoki Asano in Blade of the Immortal, Toshiko Hata in The Case Files of Jeweler Richard)
  • Atsumi Tanezaki as Lily (Rio Futaba in Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, Frieren in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End)

"NieR:Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful machines. Humanity has been driven from the Earth by mechanical beings from another world."
