Produced by AtelierPontdarc, No Longer Allowed in Another World finale, titled Tonight I Shall Die, I Ride So That It Won't Kill Me, marked a terrific conclusion to the Isekai anime from Summer 2024. Released on September 24, 2024, the final episode saw the dramatic encounter between Osamu Dazai aka Sensei, and his beloved, Sacchan.

Additionally, the episode witnessed Osamu Dazai's chance meeting with the Fairy Queen, who blessed him on his journey. Once again, AtelierPontdarc Studios delivered a fascinating episode, infusing the elements from the Isekai genre with Osamu Dazai's dark humor.

While the No Longer Allowed in Another World finale had some minor shortcomings from the production's perspective, the esteemed studio's authentic portrayal of the manga's events lent the episode its essence. Unlike the other episodes, where the supporting characters had a huge impact, the finale's central focus was on Osamu Dazai.

No Longer Allowed in Another World finale review: Evaluating AtelierPontdarc's production of Osamu Dazai's meeting with Sacchan

The narrative structure for the No Longer Allowed in Another World finale was cut into three segments, each acting its part to heighten the episode's appeal. AtelierPontdarc's credit lies in perfectly unifying these segments to tell the tale of Osamu Dazai for one final time.

The No Longer Allowed in Another World finale's first segment emphasized Nir, who destroyed the Fallen Angel of Despair, Sanzigen's sword with his own blade. Even though Nir already had his shining moment in the series, the finale only sparked the possibilities of his growth as a warrior.

However, it's the second segment that made the No Longer Allowed in Another World finale so special. The narrative shifted to the Gelb Castle at night, where Osamu Dazai encountered his beloved, Sacchan, on the castle's balcony. Finally, the series revealed Sacchan's appearance, as she wore a mysterious aura around her.

With an ominous OST playing in the background and Reina Ueda's mesmerizing performance as Sacchan, the scene glued the audience to the edge of their seats, enthralling them with the show's epic moment. Undoubtedly, AtelierPontdarc's production of the No Longer Allowed in Another World finale did justice to Sensei and Sacchan's scene from the manga.

While the manga version was slightly more eerie due to Takahiro Wakamatsu's illustrations, the anime version had its excellent moments because of the background OSTs and the voice acting. Osamu Dazai discovered Sacchan no longer looked at him the same way.

Having seen life in his eyes again, Sacchan felt Sensei wasn't worthy to become her suicide partner. As such, she rejected Dazai's plea to commit the double suicide and left. The scene's trance-like state was broken by Annette, Tama, and Nir's arrival, who witnessed Sacchan for the first time.

The foreboding and dramatic scene or segment quickly moved to a more comedic approach in the No Longer Allowed in Another World finale with Osamu Dazai lamenting his fate. He was so distraught by Sacchan's words that he continued to empty his unlimited bottle of sleeping pills.

Yet again, the third and final segment revolved around Osamu Dazai and his melancholic behavior. Unable to bear the "happiness," Sensei dashed to the desert in his Coffin Car, with his party members chasing him. Sensei entered the Held village and encountered the Fairy Queen after comically passing three toughest trials.

AtelierPontdarc fused comedy, dark humor, fantasy, and Isekai tropes to produce No Longer Allowed in Another World finale's final segment. While Osamu Dazai's conversation with the Fairy Queen had plenty of laughter-worthy moments, it also confirmed that Osamu Dazai's purpose in Zauberberg was of utmost importance.

He was the key to resolving the conflict between the Priests and the Fallen Angels. With that, the Fairy Queen blessed Sensei and even gave him a Fairy Flute. She also assured him that he would once again meet his beloved at the end of his journey.

After returning from the Fairy Queen's abode, Sensei blew Fairy Queen's flute and summoned one of her dominions, who had to accompany him on his journey. At the same time, Sensei reunited with his party and assured them he would continue his fantastical journey.

Overall, the fantasy tropes coalescing with the dark humor injected vibrancy into the narrative, enriching Osamu Dazai's journey in the No Longer Allowed in Another World finale. The final episode put Sense into a spot of bother, perhaps for the first time, and it was only possible because of Sacchan's appearance.

While the scenes that followed after the second segment appeared slightly comical, it also allowed Sensei to find the answer to his existence in Zauberberg. He had to process the rejection, and eventually, he found hope in the Fairy Queen's words. As such, he decided to prolong his journey, with Annette, Nir, and Tama by his side.
