While Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 is set to be released on Monday, September 30, 2024, its alleged spoilers were leaked days before the manga's official release. Fans were anticipating the chapter to possibly reveal Gojo's resurrection or funeral. Unfortunately, the alleged spoilers only gave fans a flashback featuring the fan-favorite character.
Instead, the manga's alleged spoilers revealed something huge about Ryomen Sukuna. Following his death, he is confronted by Mahito in what looks like the afterlife. At that moment, following his defeat, Sukuna decides to traverse a different path, one that Gojo did not choose when he was presented with the option.

Sukuna taking Uraume's path in Jujutsu Kaisen finale suggests that he will go to the "North"
As fans must remember, after Satoru Gojo reached the afterlife in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236, Nanami Kento informed him what Mei Mei once told him about choosing a path. Nanami was doubtful about where he wanted to go if he were to leave the country. To this, Mei Mei responded that if Nanami wished to start anew, he should head North. But, if he wished to return to his old self, he should head South.
Notably so, Nanami wished to go to Kuantan, Malaysia. Moreover, he also mentioned that he chose the South without hesitation because he was a backward-looking person. However, the moment the manga chapter was released, fans realized that Nanami was not just speaking about a trip but also his path in the afterlife.
As evident from the manga's latest chapter spoilers, after Ryomen Sukuna's death, he too, was presented with two paths. This confirmed that similar to him, Nanami and the other dead characters might have also received the option to head toward the North or South. Thus, with Nanami essentially in his young persona in his afterlife, it is to be presumed that upon being presented with the options to start anew or return to his old self, he must have chosen to return to his old self.
This was seemingly also the case for Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Masamichi Yaga, and others, all of whom were shown in their younger personas in the afterlife. This effectively meant that upon being presented with the two options—North and South—Gojo chose South.
As for Ryomen Sukuna, when presented with the choices, he seemingly chose North. This is because, upon being questioned by Mahito, Sukuna stated that after losing the fight against the Jujutsu sorcerers, he wished to traverse a different path in the future.
Hence, out of his two paths—Yorozu and Uraume—Sukuna chose Uraume (suggesting that he chose Yorozu the last time). Mahito believed that Sukuna had gotten soft. Sukuna agreed to this as he had lost his fight and was willing to finally consider a different path than the one he had taken previously. This effectively meant that Sukuna wanted to start anew and chose to head North.
