While there are many mysteries in mangaka Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece story overall, the most recent arcs specifically have introduced several significant questions. Many of these have captured fans’ minds likewise, but one of the most captivating questions for the larger community was who fed Luffy during the Egghead Arc’s events.

Although there were certain implications in the manga that teased who could’ve done so, there was never anything close to an official confirmation given on that front. However, the unofficial release of the latest One Piece SBS question corner for volume 110 has seemingly all but confirmed who gave Luffy that food at such a critical moment.

Oda heavily implies Kizaru gave Luffy food during Egghead Arc in One Piece volume 110’s question corner

Per the latest volume 110 SBS info leaked by X (formerly Twitter) user and reputable series leaker @pewpiece, Admiral Kizaru is who gave Luffy food in One Piece’s Egghead Arc. While Oda doesn’t explicitly confirm this, he all but does so given the phrasing he uses in response to a reader’s question on the subject.

Specifically, Oda’s response begins by suggesting it may have been Sanji or Franky since they were each near him. He then adds that Kizaru and Sentomaru were also nearby Luffy, adding that whoever did it never got exposed. He then suggests that this means the action was done at the “speed of light,” to the point where even the naked eye can’t see it. He further speculates on who did it while repeating the “speed of light” phrase as the answer ends.

While Oda’s answer in One Piece volume 110’s SBS question corner doesn’t explicitly paint Kizaru as responsible, it all but does so given the phrasing used here. Likewise, fans can safely assume that Kizaru is indeed the one who gave Luffy food considering Oda’s response and its emphasis on the “speed of light.”

This is further supported by the fact that, of the four people Oda mentioned as possibly responsible, Kizaru is the only one who can be confirmed as able to go the speed of light. While Sanji is incredibly fast, he’s far from the level of Kizaru and his light-based Glint-Glint Fruit. Likewise, Franky and Sentomaru’s speeds pale in comparison to even Sanji’s, inherently eliminating them considering Oda’s emphasis on the “speed of light.”

There is also narrative support for the idea that Kizaru is the one who fed Luffy, which comes primarily via his relationship with Dr. Vegapunk. The final chapters of the Egghead Arc made it explicitly clear that Kizaru emotionally struggled with being responsible for ensuring the death of his old friend.

Seeing that Luffy and the others were fighting to protect him, it makes sense for the Admiral to leverage his powers in a way that helps them while keeping himself safe. This is further supported by the fact that the Straw Hats were also attempting to save Jewelry Bonney at this point, whom Kizaru was also close with. Given this evidence and Oda’s response, it’s clear that Kizaru was the one who gave Luffy food.

Combined with previous narrative flags that suggested Kizaru to be responsible, Oda’s extremely implicit response in volume 110’s SBS all but confirms his being responsible. While Kizaru is still with the Marines as of this article’s writing, this may set him up to further assist or even join the Straw Hats later on in the final saga.
