Demon Slayer Hashira arc episode 8 was released on June 23, 2024. The episode mainly focused on revealing Gyomei's backstory and the incident that led him to join the Demon Slayer Corps. However, it is the ending of the episode that stole the limelight, with many dubbing it as one of the best-animated sequences in Demon Slayer's history. The ending depicted Muzan simply making his way into the Ubuyashiki residence.
This brief scene was simply two panels in the manga, but the anime adaptation extended this scene to an entirely new level by adding additional angles and completely anime-original sequences.

Demon Slayer Hashira arc anime finally adapts Muzan's meeting with Ubuyashiki

The Demon Slayer manga series ended its serialization in 2020 with Muzan's defeat. Although the manga did a really good job depicting Muzan's cold-blooded nature along with his rather calm and menacing demeanor, many fans still thought that it could be improved.
Even the recent episodes of the Demon Slayer Hashira arc anime received complaints from fans regarding how the anime simply adapted the chapters too accurately from the manga without expanding on them. However, the latest Demon Slayer episode, which adapted chapter 136 of the manga, managed to become the centerpiece of attention.
Similar to the anime, in manga chapter 136, Muzan arrive at the Ubuyashiki residence to directly confront Ubuyashiki. But in the manga, this scene was just two panels with Muzan directly standing before Ubuyashiki's porch, while in the anime, the entire scene was extended for an entire minute with numerous anime-original angles and an exciting background music which enhanced the antagonist's entry,
Fan reaction to the extended scene
Few fans came forward to express that there was no reason for Ufotable to enhance Muzan's entry this much. However, they also noted that this scene indeed managed to elevate Muzan's overall image and the atmosphere around him. This, along with the ending song overlaying the scene, truly made it one of the best anime-original sequences in the series.
Another fan took this opportunity to mention how this extended scene serves to build up the actual atmosphere for the next arc which will be the Final Battle arc. The Final Battle arc will fully display Muzan's power and why even the strongest demons fear him.
"The Beginning of The End," one fan shared.
"It gave the exact feeling of how deep and heavy the next arc is going to be," one fan said.
"Why do they keep going beyond my expectations," another fan added.
On the other hand, some fans took this opportunity to mention that Muzan's entry scene was overdone and that there was no point in extending a simple scene into multiple minutes. Although the scene was well animated and has gained praise from the majority of the fandom, many still hold the sentiment that this extra effort could've been used somewhere else.
"Liked the scene but i found that 4+minute of muzan walking is too much," another fan said.
"Why was like half the episode just him walking in bruh I'm sobbing," shared one fan.
While some other fans mentioned how Muzan's entry scene is the best example of how an antagonist should be introduced before the final arc of a series. This is especially important for Demon Slayer since Muzan hasn't received any extended scenes prior to the Demon Slayer Hashira Arc, episode 7.
"This is how you introduce the main antagonist for one of the last arc of the anime," one fan wrote.
"Fr fr I literally teared up as well. Peakest anime walk ever," one X user shared.
Demon Slayer Hashira arc Episode 8 will be released on June 30, 2024, and it will be the final episode of the Hashira Training arc. The next season will be the final season has not been announced yet, but fans are expecting it to arrive along with the release of Demon Slayer Hashira arc episode 8.
