One Piece chapter 1122 raw scans were expected to offer some clarity to some of the less clear points made in text-based spoilers, such as Joy Boy’s apparent first appearance in the series. Fans were also curious to see the specifics of the Gorosei’s apparent detransformation and return to Mariejois, seemingly caused by Joy Boy’s Conqueror’s Haki which Emeth unleashed.

The One Piece chapter 1122 raw scans were also expected to clarify whether or not the Straw Hats had actually escaped Egghead Island’s waters successfully, which does appear to be the case. While the text-based spoilers already suggested it to be the case, the raw scans seemingly confirm that the Egghead arc is all but over heading into the Obon holiday break week.

One Piece chapter 1122 raw scans begin with the issue’s cover page, which is a drawing of Smoker. The illustration is a redraw of an original work by My Hero Academia mangaka Kohei Horikoshi, who submitted the original to Oda when he was 15 years old. Oda redrew the piece as a celebration of the My Hero Academia manga ending this coming Monday, August 5, 2024.

Beginning their story content, the raw scans opened with a focus on reactions from those around the world to Dr. Vegapunk’s latest words as heard at chapter 1121’s end. Pirates are shown to be excited, while others seem concerned. Koby is seen thinking of Luffy in the context of these revelations, while Buggy is speaking to his Cross Guild subordinates. Crocodile then beckons to him, which seemingly worries him.

One Piece chapter 1122 raw scans then shift focus to Blackbeard, who is speaking with Catarina Devon as Dr. Vegapunk’s words continue, and the focus returns to Egghead Island. However, Gorosei member Saint Topman Warcury then attacks Emeth, which causes the Transmission Transponder Snail inside him to break, ending Dr. Vegapunk’s broadcast for good.

Focus then shifts to the Thousand Sunny, where Gorosei member Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is still chasing after it. As this happens, Emeth continues to think of his conversation with Joy Boy before turning his attention to Luffy. He seems to ask Luffy some questions while both thinking of his conversation with Joy Boy and trying to hold off the other Gorosei members.

However, One Piece chapter 1122 raw scans see the full Gorosei members present begin jumping at the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship and the Thousand Sunny in an attempt to stop it. As this happens, Luffy appears to tell Emeth his name, with Emeth fixating on the D. initial. As he does so, he pulls something on his waist which undoes a knot within him, releasing what is easily the strongest Conqueror’s Haki blast the series has seen so far.

It’s shown to overpower all Marines present with Vice Admirals barely able to resist succumbing to it. The Gorosei are even shown to turn back into their human forms as a result, before seemingly being forcibly sent back to Mariejois as a result.

It’s revealed Saint Marcus Mars is already there himself, with a panel suspiciously focusing on him before the focus shifts to Imu, who is on his knees and screaming out in pain. He also seems to think Joy Boy’s name here to himself based on text present which is not placed into a dialogue box.

One Piece chapter 1122 raw scans then return to Egghead Island, the Thousand Sunny finally lands in the sea, prompting it and the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship to begin sailing away from Egghead Island. As this happens, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn approaches Emeth on the shores of Egghead, while Emeth remembers his conversation with Joy Boy further.

However, fans actually get to see the full flashback this time, leading to the first appearance of Joy Boy (albeit silhouetted) in the series thus far. Joy Boy appears to be wearing a straw hat and coat, giving him an outfit very similar to Luffy’s during the Onigashima Raid. The two are shown speaking, with Joy Boy saying something that apparently makes Emeth happy. The issue then ends with Emeth seemingly dying on Egghead’s shores as he remembers Joy Boy.
