One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers: Imu hurt by Joy Boy's Conqueror's Haki as Dr. Vegapunk's broadcast officially ends

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers were expected to formally and finally bring an end to the Egghead arc, either by seeing the Straw Hats escape the island’s waters or the Gorosei defeated. With the release of alleged full summary spoilers on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, fans were told that both occur by chapter 1122’s end, unofficially marking the arc’s formal end.

This is further supported by the fact that One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers claim Dr. Vegapunk’s broadcast to be fully over and done with by nature of the Transmission Transponder Snail’s destruction. However, easily the single biggest highlight of the issue is what appears to be Imu being injured by Joy Boy’s Conqueror’s Haki, with this focus also suggesting that Imu once knew Joy Boy.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers begin with the issue’s title, which is “When The Time Is Right.” This is a reference to Joy Boy’s words to Emeth as seen in the issue. The cover is a redraw of a piece of Smoker art which a 15-year-old Kohei Horikoshi submitted to Oda, which was done in order to celebrate Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga series ending this week. Horikoshi’s manga is also serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump like Oda’s.

The issue begins its story content with more reactions from all over the world to Dr. Vegapunk’s words at the end of chapter 1121, showing them concerned that their countries will sink into the sea. However, pirates are excited over the thought that they could claim the world for themselves if they find the series’ titular treasure.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers shift to the Marine hospital where Koby and other SWORD members were previously seen. Koby remembers his conversation with Luffy about what it means to be the “Pirate King,” but Kody steels himself and remains determined to stop Luffy and his dream.

Focus then shifts to Emptee Bluffs Island, where Buggy tells his subordinates that the world will be theirs rather than his. They cheer him on while an angry Crocodile orders him to come and sit down. Focus shifts a final time to Catarina Devon and Van Augur as they sail back to Hachinosu. Devon tells Blackbeard that she can kill Caribou right now if he wants, but he says it’s fine and that he can just execute Caribou himself if his intel isn’t satisfactory.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers return to Egghead Island, where Dr. Vegapunk’s message continues. He says “And that is the truth. Joy Boy…,” but is interrupted by Gorosei member Saint Topman Warcury attacking Emeth once more. This attack leads to the Transmission Transponder Snail being destroyed, which in turn finally and conclusively ends Dr. Vegapunk’s broadcast.

Focus then shifts to fellow Gorosei member Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, who is shown to be still chasing the Thousand Sunny as it falls to the sea. Spoilers claim this is what Zoro noticed in chapter 1121 during his brief appearance. It’s then revealed that Gorosei member Saint Jaygarcia Saturn is somehow back on shore and regenerating following the seemingly devastating attack he took from Luffy and Jewelry Bonney.

Speaking of Bonney, she doesn’t appear in the issue according to One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers. The issue then allegedly sees Warcury, Nusjuro, and fellow Gorosei member Saint Shepherd Ju Peter preparing to jump together at the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship and the Thousand Sunny. The spoilers specify that at this point, the Sunny is about to land in the sea.

Emeth then grabs something near its waist which fans can’t see clearly, thinking about Joy Boy as he does so. He apologizes to Joy Boy, saying that while he knows his friend isn’t alive, Luffy looks so similar to him that he couldn’t help but think about “that day.” Emeth then apologizes to Joy Boy for not being able to make him “king” before asking Luffy for his name.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers see Luffy share his full name and claim he’ll become the Pirate King. Emeth repeats the “D.” initial after hearing this before pulling what he grabbed on his waist, causing a knot on a rope inside his body to be untied. This causes black lightning to emerge from his body, which Luffy confirms as Conqueror’s Haki as Emeth calls out to him and most of the Marines in Egghead’s vicinity faint.

Emeth then thanks Luffy for letting him hear “this nostalgic rhythm” again, seemingly referencing the Drums of Liberation. Emeth then releases a massive Conqueror’s Haki blast which affects the entirety of Egghead Island. It’s said that even from far away, the sea is shown to be shaking from the blast and massive black lightning bolts can be seen.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers see the Vice Admiral’s barely resist this Conqueror’s Haki, also questioning whose it is and why it’s so powerful. Saturn, Ju Peter, Warcury, and Nusjuro are all blown back and turned back into their human forms by this Haki blast. The lattermost three are then sent back to Mariejois, with Saturn remaining on Egghead.

The three are panting upon their return, with Gorosei member Saint Marcus Mars intriguingly already there sitting down. Spoilers attribute this to him likely returning to Mariejois after being Team Rocketed by Luffy’s attack. Focus then shifts to Mariejois’ Room of Flowers, where Imu is kneeling down and screaming, suggesting Joy Boy’s Conqueror’s Haki is reaching and hurting even him.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers also suggest that Imu recognizes this Haki, thinking the name “Joy Boy” to himself in exclamation as this scene plays out. As this happens, the Thousand Sunny lands on the sea and begins sailing away from Egghead with the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship. Once they’re a good distance away, the people on both ships are wondering where the monsters went, how Emeth used Haki, and why the Haki made the Gorosei disappear.

Focus then returns to Egghead Island, where Saturn is standing in front of Emeth’s remains on Egghead’s shore. The last two pages of the chapter focus on a flashback showing Joy Boy and Emeth speaking centuries prior. While Joy Boy is silhouetted here, fans can tell that he’s wearing a Straw Hat and clothes. Emeth is shown wearing clothes similar to Giants’, with spoilers specifically saying they’re similar to Brogy’s clothes.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers see Joy Boy telling Emeth to only use his most powerful Haki, which he’ll compress and seal in Emeth’s body, when the time is right. Joy Boy then says he’ll die one day, and Emeth will outlive him, meaning there’ll be a time he can no longer aid Emeth. As Emeth laments this, Joy Boy instructs him to “untie the knot” when Emeth’s own life or the lives of those he wants to protect are in danger, calling this the right time.

Emeth childishly recognizes this as Joy Boy coming to help him in this time, to which Joy Boy says he’ll come to protect him from the past, as he always has. The lights in Emeth’s eyes change shape to show he’s happy about this, with the spoilers comparing them to the “n_n” emoticon.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers see Emeth say this is like having Joy Boy with him all the time, to which Joy Boy says they’re discussing something way ahead in the future. Emeth muses on the far future as the flashback ends, where the lights in Emeth’s eyes are gone. The final panel sees past Emeth wondering if he’ll be lonely way into the future, while the editor’s note seemingly confirms that Emeth has now “died,” for lack of a better term.
