With the Elbaf arc having just begun and a break week for the series ongoing, fans of mangaka Eiichiro Oda’s series are scouring One Piece chapter 1127 for any and all info they can get. This is especially of interest to fans following recent posts that point out apparent inconsistencies with certain aspects of chapter 1127’s artwork.
This has led some fans to Nami’s moment of begging for help in One Piece chapter 1127, in which she called for any of her four East Blue crewmates. Jokingly, she even says she’ll settle for Usopp despite, to her knowledge, the possibility of stronger crewmates like Nico Robin, Jinbe, Brook, or Franky there.
In turn, One Piece chapter 1127 subtly proves exactly who Nami trusts in the crew the most: her East Blue crewmates of Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Vinsmoke Sanji, and even Usopp. This makes perfect sense when analyzing her origins and also emphasizes the impact the other four had on her life after meeting them.
One Piece chapter 1127 proves Nami will always trust the ones who freed her from Arlong most
As veteran fans of the series know, Nami’s origins stem from Cocoyasi Village. When she was young, Arlong took over her village and made it his territory, enlisting her into his crew as a navigator and cartographer. They had a deal for Nami to buy her village’s freedom, but as she was on the brink of having enough money to honor it, he sabotaged her efforts to ensure she remained under his control.
Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp, as the four crew members at that time, were the ones who took down Arlong and his crew, freeing Nami herself, Cocoyasi Village, and all of the villagers. Thus, it explains why One Piece chapter 1127 sees her ask for Usopp before any of the other stronger Straw Hats; even with their strength advantage, she still trusts him the most because of the role he played in freeing her from Arlong’s grip.
This trust is likely also compounded by their experience in Wano together, which saw them survive Ulti and Page One’s onslaught. The pair have also been paired up in other prior arcs, such as Thriller Bark, further explaining how this trust has been built up to the point of asking for him before the likes of Jinbe and others. That’s not to say Nami doesn’t trust these other Straw Hats, it’s just that they don’t have the same level of trust that the East Blue crew does.
As mentioned above, Nami also has no idea which Straw Hats are or are not in her current location as of when she says these words in One Piece chapter 1127. This is proven by her words that she doesn’t remember anything beyond drinking on the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship, The Great Erik. Again, this further drives home the level of trust and preference she has for relying on her fellow East Blue crew members rather than the other, stronger Straw Hats.
Likewise, it’s the perfect time to establish this bond as a new adventure, for these five exclusively are seemingly being set up. There’s also the chance that Tony Tony Chopper is with them currently, expanding the group to the original six who fought through Alabasta together.
Fans can expect to learn more of Nami and Co’s current circumstances when the manga returns with chapter 1128 on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12 a.m. Japanese Standard Time (JST).
