One Piece chapter 1135 was expected to focus on both the Elbaphian invaders who arrived in the last issue and the Straw Hat Pirates still exploring Elbaph. Officially released earlier this week, the installment focused on each of these two groups, and it was exciting to see the former make their first moves against Elbaph.

However, One Piece chapter 1135 took a unique approach to the Straw Hats, seeing the issue end with some of them returning to the Giants’ feast for them and starting it. Likewise, this seemingly sets up a fight for Luffy and those with him in the coming issues with how close they now are to “Shanks” and his cohort.

One Piece chapter 1135 confirms “Shanks” as an enemy with he and his ally’s first moves

One Piece chapter 1135, titled “Camaraderie Cups,” begins with its cover story, continuing Yamato’s pilgrimage across Wano. This edition sees Otama successfully defeat Holdem and free herself after being kidnapped by him in the last installment. The issue then begins its story content, starting with Jaguar D. Saul introducing the owl in the Owl Library as Bibleot, the library’s master.

He’s apparently been here for hundreds of years, with Saul saying the only thing known for sure is that he gigantifies any book entering his territory. Vegapunk Lilith theorizes that he ate a specific Devil Fruit, which allows him to gigantify inorganic objects, calling it an ability perfect for Elbaph to be home to. Saul then asks Nico Robin if she’s feeling nostalgic, to which she agrees before they start discussing the books from Ohara and Elbaph in the library.

One Piece chapter 1135 sees a fairly ominous panel of Bibelot appear as they discuss this before the focus shifts to Luffy and Usopp playing with the Giant children. While the two of them are having fun, the children seem terrified, and Nami hits Luffy and Usopp over once they’re done. The kids then run to Gerd for comfort, with Sanji watching as it’s revealed they’re doing the same explicit bit that Momonosuke once did with Nami.

As Luffy and Usopp discuss how Elbaph slightly lets them down, someone begins swinging a wooden sword at Luffy. This is revealed to be Colon, who breaks his sword on Luffy’s Advanced Conqueror’s Haki as he tries to swing again. Luffy then attacks with a Gear Third Gum-Gum Elephant Gun, but Colon dodges it. Luffy then comments on how nice it’s to meet someone like Colon, who is starstruck, and says Luffy surely is a Yonko.

One Piece chapter 1135, reveals Colon's reputation as the delinquent among Elbaph's children, calling the other kids weaklings. Ripley then approaches, telling Colon not to cause a scene while adding he fought well. It’s revealed that Ripley is Colon’s mom and that his father is a human who used to be a pirate. Ripley explains she’s informally married to Colon’s father, who didn’t want it to be official since he’d be the only one aging due to being much younger than her.

Luffy and the others swing by the library, where Robin, Chopper, Lilith, and Bonney decide to stay with Saul for a bit longer while the others head to the party. Franky then says he’ll also stay since he wants to learn more about the Treasure Tree Adam while they’re here. Gerd then gives the other Straw Hats, still in their regular clothes, some Viking outfits before sailing back to the village with those wanting to start the party.

One Piece chapter 1135: First shot fired

One Piece chapter 1135 then shifts focus to the Ouest Castle, where a Giant guard is asking “Shanks” and his ally who they are and what they’re doing here. The woman answers that they’re looking for Loki, causing them to laugh and ask why they’d be looking for that criminal. He adds that he can’t tell them where Loki is on the off chance that they help him escape somehow, which upsets the woman.

This prompts her to kneel down and use something to attack one of the Giants, the one she attacks being named Bogi. At first, it seems like nothing has happened, but Bogi suddenly starts crying out in pain as the woman demands to be told where Loki is.

Meanwhile, Luffy, Usopp, and the others have made it to the party, celebrating their long journey here from East Blue. Dorry, Brogy, Oimo, Kashi, and Hajrudin all thank Luffy for what he’s done for them.

Luffy and the others are then officially welcomed to Elbaph by the Giants, and Luffy’s victory over Kaido and Big Mom is also toasted. All the Giants are present, and then they toast Luffy and the Straw Hats, as someone approaches the party. Luffy then goes up to Stansen, recognizing him as the Giant caught on the Sabaody Archipelago. He thanks Luffy once again, and Luffy says he’s glad he was able to help.

It’s then revealed that Elder Jarul has arrived, with Luffy wanting to go see who that is. The Straw Hats are shocked at how much bigger Jarul is than Brogy standing next to him, while Luffy is shocked that there’s a sword going through Jarul’s helmet. The issue ends with Jarul saying his helmet saved him, and Luffy questions how that can be the case when the sword is seemingly going through his head.

One Piece chapter 1135: In summation

While One Piece chapter 1135 doesn’t offer much in immediate plot advancement, it lays the groundwork for significant progression in that area over the next few weeks. Jarul’s arrival is likely the last set piece needing to be staged before Luffy and the Giants realize trouble is afoot. In turn, the first major fight of the Elbaph Arc shouldn’t be too far off after, possibly even being Luffy versus “Shanks,” or, more accurately, Shanks’ apparent doppelganger.
