The world of One Piece is possibly heading towards a major conflict, with recent developments suggesting that Imu may have sent the powerful Holy Knights to Elbaph, the land of the giants, to crush their growing resistance and deal with the threat of the Straw Hat Pirates.
These recent chapters have also posited a theory that Imu's power source might be far greater than that of an awakened mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. Considering they sit upon a throne ruling the entire world and the Gorosei bow down to them, Imu might be drawing their powers from ancient dark magic.

A theory suggests Imu's powers in One Piece might come from Dark Magic
One Piece chapter 1134 revealed an individual who resembled Shanks appearing on Elbaph alongside a mysterious woman covered in bandages. The two emerged from a summoning circle in a castle near the Western Village, identical to the one used by the Gorosei during their battle against Luffy and Vegapunk.
The bandaged woman asked two castle guards where to find the giant named Loki. When the guards refused to answer, one of them collapsed, yelling in pain, hinting that the bandages covering the woman might be linked to dark magic.
Dark magic is often used to summon demons or curse others, and magic circles play an important role in these rituals. The Gorosei use magic circles to travel from one place to another, and a recent chapter suggests that these Holy Knights might also possess this unique power. This further shows that the strongest order of the World Government likely relies on dark magic.
Imu is the likely source of this power and can grant it at will and take it back like they did with Saturn. When Saturn failed to capture the Straw Hats and their allies, Imu stripped him of his immortality, with only his skeleton being left behind. The dark aura surrounding him was shown to seep out from his body, leaving a husk behind.
The extent of the Holy Knights' power has not yet been revealed. However, seeing how the bandaged woman made a giant fall to the ground screaming in pain, we can assume that she possesses some powerful curse abilities, similar to the “Three Unforgivable Curses” from Harry Potter.
The Holy Knights can be compared to the Death Eaters, as many of their abilities are similar. For example, the ability shown by the bandaged woman seems to be inspired by the "Cruciatus Curse" in Harry Potter, which inflicts excruciating pain on a subject, incapacitating them.
Other similarities include the Holy Knights and the Death Eaters using teleportation magic. Just as the Death Eaters act as enforcers of Voldemort, the Holy Knights are elite warriors who work directly for Imu. These similarities also suggest that Imu, like Voldemort, might have dabbled in dark magic, becoming an immortal being and leader willing to go to any lengths to consolidate their power.
