The first arc of One Piece’s long-awaited final saga, the Egghead Arc, began two years ago, and its end could be finally near. Upon arriving on Dr Vegapunk’s futuristic island, the Straw Hat Pirates got involved in the World Government’s attempt to assassinate the scientist.
The situation quickly escalated, as Admiral Kizaru eventually killed Vegapunk, but the latter’s demise triggered the broadcast of a pre-recorded message. Fearing that Vegapunk could reveal the forbidden secrets of the One Piece world to everyone, the Five Elders arrived on Egghead to stop the broadcast.
With Egghead turned into a messy battlefield, several other major events were occurring all over the world. The ongoing arc has been the center of the One Piece manga’s storyline since chapter 1058, but the first spoilers for chapter 1122 imply that the Straw Hats won’t be on Egghead for much longer.

One Piece chapter 1122 spoilers tease the conclusion of Egghead in the manga
The first leaks of One Piece chapter 1122
One Piece Chapter 1122 is set to officially release on Monday, August 5, 2024, on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus website and app. According to the first leaks, the chapter will feature several major developments, the consequences of which will allegedly bring the Egghead Arc to an end.
As per the spoilers, Emet confronts the Five Elders, attacking them with a ravaging Haki technique. The leaks mention that Joy Boy once sealed his Haki, or some of it, inside Emet, and that’s what the Iron Giant now unleashes against the World Government’s top brass.
Looking forward to seeing the chapter’s pictures for more accurate information, Joy Boy’s Haki appears to be the strongest ever seen in One Piece until now, surpassing any other Advanced Conqueror’s Haki user.
This is because, using Joy Boy’s Haki, Emet generated enough power to sweep away the Five Elders, apparently erasing their summoning and sending them back to Mary Geoise.
To be precise, as of the time of this article’s writing, the leaks don’t reveal whether the Five Elders simply decided to retreat to Mary Geoise or were blown away all the way back there. Nevertheless, both events would be caused by the overwhelming might of Joy Boy’s Haki.
What’s certain is that the spoilers explicitly mention that all the Elders have reappeared in the Pangaea Castle, with the sole exception of Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. Unlike his colleagues, the wicked Warrior God of Science and Defense remained at Egghead.
Meanwhile, the Thousand Sunny landed safely in the waters surrounding the island, meaning that the Straw Hat Pirates, along with Dorry, Brogy, and the other Giants, can now sail to Elbaf.
Is this the end of the Egghead Arc?
One Piece has already foreshadowed that Elbaf is set to be the next destination of the Straw Hat Pirates right after Egghead. Even One Piece author Eiichiro Oda validated the concept in a message sent to the Jump Festa 2024.
As soon as they escape from Vegapunk’s place, Luffy and the others will finally visit the homeland of the Giants. The latest chapter suggests that this long-cherished moment will come sooner than expected.
The Straw Hat crew’s goal in Egghead was never to engage in full-scale combat with the Five Elders due to both their insane power and their absurd regenerative abilities. In fact, Luffy and the others only aimed at leaving Egghead safe and sound while bringing Dr Vegapunk and his satellite bodies with them.
Vegapunk died during the attempted escape. That's just one more reason to leave the island as soon as possible. The Giant Warrior Pirates have come to Egghead to escort the Straw Hats to Elbaf, and the broadcast of Vegapunk’s message is seemingly over. From the point of view of the Straw Hat Pirates, every additional minute spent in Egghead is time wasted.
With the further developments brought by One Piece chapter 1122, it’s now clear that the Egghead Arc is in its very final stage. With Rob Lucci critically injured and unable to move, Kizaru wounded in spirit if not in body, and almost all of the Five Elders gone, there seems to be no one left to stop the Straw Hats anymore.
There’s only Saint Saturn, but he alone doesn’t seem enough to defeat Luffy and the others. In all likelihood, all that’s left for the Egghead Arc is to deal with Saturn and the traitorous Vegapunk York, as well as outline the fate of some characters, such as Stussy, Kaku, and the Seraphim cyborgs.
Bonney and Kuma will probably go to Elbaf with the Straw Hats. The same applies to Lilith, the last surviving member of Vegapunk’s six satellite bodies. The end of Egghead is clearly near, however, it may not be so close.
Considering the subplots to finalize, the Straw Hats are definitely not going to leave Egghead any sooner than a few chapters at least. It should also be noted that the big twist that the One Piece editor Kaito Anayama hyped doesn’t seem to have happened yet.
Anayama recently claimed the following:
"It's been stated that Egghead would conclude with a major incident. However, there is still one more big twist to it. I won't say anything else or they'll erase me…"
With Saturn having remained on Egghead, the event Anayama is referring might be the utter defeat of the former. Admittedly, the definitive downfall of one of the Five Elders is something that would shock the world. Also, narratively speaking, Saturn has to go down to pay for what he did to Bonney, Kuma, and Ginny.
Interestingly, Blackbeard Pirates member Catarina Devon has used her Devil Fruit powers to copy Saturn’s appearance. With Saturn’s eventual demise, this could open up several intriguing scenarios, as Devon would be able to impersonate the Elder.
Whatever the cliffhanger teased by Anayama turns out to be, the Egghead Arc is essentially over, except for its conclusion, which won’t take more than a couple of months. This fits in with the release window of the Elbaf Arc, which seems to be November 2024 at the latest.
On the same date, in fact, the Shonen Jump will begin selling Elbaf-themed figures of the Straw Hat Pirates. This indirectly confirms that the Egghead Arc will end between late summer and early autumn, with the Elbaf Arc starting around the same time.
