With the release of One Piece episode 1115 earlier this weekend, fans finally got some key answers as to how Kuzan came to join the Blackbeard Pirates after leaving the Marines. This was done via the continuation of the flashback, which began in episode 1114, where Blackbeard confronted Kuzan at a bar in the new world after freezing members of his crew.

While One Piece episode 1115 saw this as the flashback's main point, some interesting and exciting worldbuilding was also done by introducing a potential Road Poneglyph location. More specifically, this would be the fourth and final Road Poneglyph, which series protagonist Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates are currently missing.

Per Laffitte, a member of Blackbeard’s crew, in One Piece episode 1115, the fourth Road Poneglyph is in the possession of the “Man with the Burn Scar,” also known as Hinokizu or simply Burn Scar. While fans are understandably curious about who this character could be, there isn’t much-confirmed info about him at the time of this article’s writing, even in the manga. However, the following is everything that fans know about the mysterious individual.

One Piece episode 1115 gives fans their first piece of info on Burn Scar and the last Road Poneglyph

While One Piece episode 1115 gives fans their first concrete info on Burn Scar, it’s not the first time he’s mentioned in the series overall. This first mention comes at the end of the Wano arc, when Luffy, Eustass Kid, and Trafalgar D. Water Law prepare to part ways. Kid and Killer both mention him, with Luffy unaware of who he is while Law seems to be aware.

Kid also emphasizes that he could be the key to the war for the series’ titular treasure, alluding to the fact that he is somehow the key to finding the Road Poneglyph. While Kid isn’t clear on this, it’s obvious that this is what he’s emphasizing since this discussion happens in the context of the trio sharing their Road Poneglyph rubbings with each other.

In One Piece episode 1115’s flashback, Laffitte gives fans their first pieces of info on the mysterious and presumably yet-to-be-introduced character. For starters, it’s confirmed that he’s rumored to be in possession of the fourth and final Road Poneglyph. Following his mention at the end of the Wano arc, it was unclear whether he actually possessed it himself or simply knew its location.

Episode 1115 sees Laffitte go on to say that he is said to ride on a pitch-black ship and is somehow able to create ocean vortexes that swallow up any ships that come too close. Laffitte speculated that this could come from a Devil Fruit power, but this is not confirmed. What can be confirmed is that the Road Poneglyph Burn Scar is allegedly in possession of is the one from Fishman Island, which was seen in flashbacks but not present during Luffy’s visit there.

Unfortunately, this is all the confirmed info fans have on Burn Scar as of this article’s writing. However, Shiryu speculates that Burn Scar could work for the World Government since hiding the fourth Road Poneglyph inherently makes the One Piece and Laugh Tale unattainable. Given original manga series author and illustrator Eiichiro Oda’s writing style, this offhand comment from Shiryu could be a major clue to Burn Scar’s true identity.
