One Piece and Naruto fandoms historically have a record of taking jabs at each other on social networking sites. Although the latter's popularity has dwindled in recent years due to its conclusion in 2014, the popularity of Eiichiro Oda's story has continued to rise, leading to several clashes between the two fandoms.

Naruto and his iconic "talk-no-jutsu," where he talks sense into his opponents and villains, has become a running gag in numerous fandoms. It is also a way to demean the series' overall message and themes.

Given his nature, few One Piece fans have started stating how he would've tried to talk some sense into the Celestial Dragons as well, giving rise to a tension never seen between the two fandoms, with the main sentiment being that the talk-no-jutsu joke was getting old and repetitive.

One Piece and Naruto fandoms clash over the latter's most repetitive joke

The Celestial Dragons are some of the most recurring evils in Eiichiro Oda's series, with their intentions being self-centered, driven by narcissism and malicious intent. Although these characteristics already make them villains with nothing to redeem, some fans of the series still believe that the protagonist of Masashi Kishimoto's series would have tried to redeem them. This belief directly goes against his character and everything that has been established about him.

Fan reactions to the post

Many fans took the opportunity to mention how old and repetitive the joke is becoming. They also stated how the popular interpretation of the talk-no-Jutsu is a mischaracterization of the Seventh Hokage and the entire situation. They called it unbecoming of a One Piece fan.

Some also mentioned how absurd it is that the Seventh Hokage gets mischaracterized despite not being very complex and one of the more simple-natured protagonists.

"Blatant mischaracterization, not unbecoming of a one piece tbf." One fan said.

"Naruto isn’t even a complex character yet it gets misunderstood somehow." Another fan said.

A few fans expressed that the Seventh Hokage simply talks and appeals to people who have a benevolent and inherently good nature that can be appealed to. They noted that the Celestial Dragons don't fall into the category. This is because their actions don't have any motivation and are driven by malice and self-centered thinking.

"Naruto talks to people with clear traits of having a heart, he straight up murderer kakazu and tried to kill deidara." One fan wrote.
"Celestial dragon's don't have a reason or core that can be talked to, how do One Piece fans don't know their own series?" Another fan wrote.

Both these series have been at the forefront of shonen. Although Eiichiro Oda's series is currently ongoing, Masashi Kishimoto's series has continued to maintain its popularity despite concluding in 2014.

The jokes about Naruto talking to all of his villains have become a gag. However, this is because the story is centered around villains with good inner nature. A certain goal motivates these villains instead of villains who are evil just for the sake of being evil.
