One Piece's character designs and its use of foreshadowing have been some of its greatest strengths as well as its greatest weaknesses. Although Oda's skill in foreshadowing years in advance while simultaneously setting up new plot points has given rise to a fandom theorizing about every single detail, the use of silhouettes has currently resulted in fatigue within the fandom. Silhouettes have been a huge part of the story, with Loki's recent reveal being a prime example.
Loki's actual mention and silhouette were revealed during the Whole Cake Island arc as a rather stout giant, but his final design ended up being completely different. One Piece chapter 1132's early spoilers have revealed yet another case of "a silhouette approaching," which has caused an outburst within the fandom, with everyone expressing how Oda's use of silhouettes has gone awry.

One Piece fandom has officially entered silhouette fatigue
One Piece has foreshadowed multiple characters in recent chapters, including Joyboy's actual dialogue, the God Knights, as well as a mysterious individual who was supposedly waiting for the Straw Hats' arrival in Egghead.
Although the God Knights and Joyboy's silhouettes were somewhat tolerable within the fandom, the recent trend of Oda merely hinting at characters and their actions via a vague silhouette that will be revealed years later has left a significant part of the fandom unsatisfied. Chapter 1132 spoilers, which were recently revealed, once again ended with "a silhouette walking into the woods," leaving a bad aftertaste within the fandom.
Fan reactions to the overuse of silhouettes
Many fans have started revisiting older panels from the manga and reposting them after editing the characters as simple silhouettes. This trend has currently led to a significant part of the fandom coming up with their own iterations of "what-ifs," revolving around how current Oda would have used silhouettes in every single major panel of the previous arcs.
"If current oda wrote logue town," one fan said.
"If current Oda wrote Jaya," another fan wrote.
Many fans have shared panels from the Logue Town arc as well as the Jaya arc, which served as the introductions of Monkey D. Dragon and Blackbeard, while turning their appearances into silhouettes and speculating how the situation would have been if the current Oda had drawn these arcs.
"Oda still doing silhouettes for a character that's gonna be an irrelevant npc after 10 chapter," one fan wrote.
"Oda drawing silhouettes in the literal final saga," another fan said.
Other fans have simply pointed out the absurdity of the situation and Oda's overuse of silhouettes in the literal final saga of the story. A few fans have also noted how the silhouettes are redundant since most of the characters that receive this kind of buildup end up becoming completely irrelevant within a few chapters.
