One Piece episode 1118, released on September 8, 2024, finally unveiled Imu's voice. However, the voice actor of the World Government leader remains a mystery, as the ending credits of the episode didn't specify a particular voice actor for the character. This development took the fandom by storm as they were expecting that Imu would either have a male or female voice.

Between choosing a male or female voice actor and a vague voice, the production team of the anime series went with the latter option. While some fans weren't surprised by this move, others speculated the author of the series might have been the reason behind this vague voice choice.

One Piece episode 1118, titled The Holy of Turmult! Sai and Loe's Full-Power Blow, featured the much-awaited meeting between King Cobra and the Five Elders. After crossing paths, Cobra inquired about the whereabouts of Nefartari Lili, the first ruler of the Arabasta Kingdom and a part of the First Twenty.

Specifically, Cobra asked the Five Elders why her name wasn't included in the First Twenty that started the World Government and why she vanished all of a sudden. The Five Elders replied by saying that the World Government thought she went back to her home kingdom, and they didn't know about her whereabouts because these details were lost in the flow of time.

As they continued their conversation, Imu started climbing the stairs of the Empty Throne and sat on it, leaving King Cobra dumbfounded. Imu then uttered the words 'Lili,' which were the last moments of the episode. However, Imu's voice was a distorted one and couldn't be identified.

As expected, the fandom reacted strongly to the reveal of the voice of the World Government leader. Some fans appreciated the production team of the anime for doing justice to Imu, while others praised the episode for making their day with its mystery.

Interestingly, one fan speculated that keeping Imu's voice a mystery might have been a suggestion from the series' author, Eiichiro Oda, even though keeping it a mystery was a given as the series hasn't specified their gender yet. Moreover, another fan gave an interesting speculation about whether Imu could be a character that has already been introduced in the series before.

"How much yall wanna bet Oda was the one who asked for them to do that," a fan questioned.

"They hiding him with their lives lmfao. Is he rly someone we know already?" another one said.

"I love what Toei is doing with One-Piece," another fan said.

"So grateful for today episode fixing my mood," another one claimed.

Giving Imu credit in the post-credits with a question mark for the voice actor might be one of the best moves the production team could make, as it preserves the character's mystery, if not making it even bigger than before. Moreover, the next episode would feature a proper conversation between Imu and Cobra, so viewers can expect more hints to be dropped in the next episode.
