In the wake of the One Piece manga’s latest developments, it seems that the ongoing Elbaf Arc won’t be going the way fans initially expected it would heading into the arc. Likewise, fans are more desperate than ever for spoilers on the upcoming chapter 1129, which could indicate exactly where the arc is headed next.
However, even without the help of spoilers, there are a few possible paths One Piece chapter 1129 is likely to take, when considering the Elbaf Arc’s apparent current direction. This includes the Sun God’s true identity being revealed, as well as Luffy and the rest of the Alabasta crew Straw Hats discovering exactly where they are.
One Piece chapter 1129 likely to confirm that the Holy Knights have abducted Luffy and the others
One Piece chapter 1129 will likely open up with Luffy and co having reached the other end of the cage they dove back into at the end of the last issue. The group should then smash the mirror and break out through the holes in the wire fencing.
This will likely reveal that they haven’t been in Elbaf the entire time, potentially captive on a ship. This seems likely since the Sun God appears to be a Holy Knight.
This could be made evident by a focus on the Sun God, who should report to the new leader of the Holy Knights regarding this situation. This should prompt their formal introduction into the series, which is necessary prior to the upcoming final war arc. Their introduction should also confirm them as the silhouetted character from chapter 1121’s final double spread, as well as the Man Marked by Flames.
The reason why such a reveal is so likely is that this naturally sets up both One Piece as a whole for its final stages, and the Elbaf Arc via introducing clear villains. Likewise, Luffy and the others will almost certainly recognize this as their opportunity to find and defeat the Man Marked by Flames. In turn, this will give them the fourth Road Poneglyph they need to reach Laugh Tale.
However, chapter 1129 is still a ways away from such events. Instead, the immediate focus will likely shift from this two-pronged introduction to the Straw Hats running around the Sun God Holy Knight’s ship and exploring. They’ll potentially gather additional intel during this sequence, which gives them the same information readers just received via the introduction of the Holy Knights’ leader.
One possibility is that the Straw Hats eventually run into Nefertari D. Vivi here. This could happen for several reasons, the first of which is that it would make narrative sense for the Holy Knights to pursue Vivi. Imu themself is concerned with Vivi, suggesting that they’d assign their personal forces to the task of recovering her directly.
It’s also likely that CP0 would not be given the opportunity to recover Vivi following their failure at Egghead Island.
Such a development would also explain why mangaka Eiichiro Oda has specifically separated those members of the crew who know Vivi personally. With this in mind, the next issue could end on this exciting reunion, setting up a full-on jailbreak of the crew and Vivi from the Sun God’s ship. In turn, this should lead to the full Holy Knights pursuing the crew back to Elbaf.
