With the end of the holiday season and the chaotic Weekly Shonen Jump release schedule it brings, One Piece finally returns with chapter 1136 this coming Monday, January 20, 2025. While fans are unsure of what to expect from the issue as of this article’s writing, it’s more likely than not that Elbaph Arc’s narrative focus will start becoming clear.

However, fans have no way to verify this as of this article’s writing, with reputable spoilers and leaks for One Piece chapter 1136 unavailable as of this article’s writing. Likewise, spoilers are never guaranteed, and thus shouldn’t be counted on as definitively coming given their illicit nature and recent Japanese legal efforts to eliminate spoiler processes.

Thankfully, there are a few likely story beats and motions that One Piece chapter 1136 should hit on its way to setting up Elbaph Arc’s conflict and plot. Unsurprisingly, “Shanks” will likely play a major role in this, appearing in the village where Luffy and co are having their party to find the key that will free Loki.

“Shanks” and his ally likely to make moves to free Loki in One Piece chapter 1136

One Piece chapter 1136 will almost certainly open with a continued focus on Luffy as he meets and speaks to Elder Jarul. This should also prompt a story explaining how Jarul has a sword running through his head, yet is still alive and well. More likely than not, Loki will be involved in the story behind this, whether it was an accident or something intentional he did while being apprehended for the murder of King Harald.

This scene should be quick regardless of what its focus is, seeing Luffy and co return to partying while the focus shifts to Aurust Castle, where “Shanks” and his ally are. The pair will likely have extracted the information they wanted from the Giants guarding the castle, now heading to the village where Luffy and everyone are. This village is the key to freeing Loki from his chains according to Loki himself, which may also speak to the motivations of “Shanks” and his ally.

One Piece will likely give some time to them as they travel to the village; however, allowing a dialogue to play out should finally tease who these two are. This scene should confirm that they’re both Holy Knights and may also allude to “Shanks” being the group’s current leader and son of former leader Garling Figarland. Unfortunately, fans are unlikely to get any sort of confirmation regarding “Shanks” being related to Shanks this early into the arc.

After this, the issue will likely devote some very brief time to Loki, who should still be on the phone with Mosa. The two will likely be in the middle of a conversation when Loki suddenly pauses and looks up at the village above. His reaction here will likely be shown, and should either be elation or pure unfettered rage. Likewise, which reaction he shows should also speak to the role and allegiances “Shanks” and his ally have in the Elbaph Arc.

Chapter 1136’s final shift in focus should lead it to Luffy and co partying in the village, completely unaware of the dangers awaiting them. They should quickly be made aware of it; however, with Luffy sensing an attack about to be launched in the village. None other than “Shanks” is likely to launch this attack, demanding to have Luffy brought to him in the installment’s final panels.
