With the Egghead arc of One Piece possibly ending in the next few chapters, the final saga is in full swing. With no telling what the major forces of the Grand Line are up to, all eyes are on the Revolutionary Army.

It has been emphasized several times that Monkey D Dragon will attack the Holy Lands of Mariejois one day and kill Imu for the injustice he has created through the Marine Corps and on the slaves of the Grand Line. So, when will the worst criminal in the world start playing his cards?

In the latest chapter, chapter 1117, Dragon briefly appeared, indicating that he could still be waiting to make a move. However, his attack on Imu and his forces has already been foreshadowed in a previous arc, which most fans tend to skip, and it relates to the rebels and the self-proclaimed God of that arc.

One Piece: Relating Monkey D Dragon's final act against Imu to the Skypiea arc

Monkey D Dragon is the son of the Marine Hero, Monkey D Garp, who is also a former Marine officer. He left the Marine Corps pretty soon because he couldn't find justice there. As for his rank in the Marines, he could be close to a Vice Admiral, which made him an idol for Smoker.

During the Loguetown arc, Smoker acted pretty casually with Dragon, hinting that these two could have a history together. After leaving the Marine Corps, Dragon formed a group of his own, which consisted of people who fought for the freedom of others.

He could have met Ivankov after the Hunting Games incident that took place in God Valley, and together, they formed the Freedom Fighters. After gathering a few more members, the Freedom Fighters became the Revolutionary Army. In its early days, the group was short on funds and members.

At this point, the Revolutionary Army started acting as a mercenary group. It supported the rebels who went against the corrupt lords of the Grand Line, all under the instruction of Dragon. Soon enough, the Revolutionary Army became a well-known organization with a military captain for each Blue of the Grand Line.

Now, with a proper army, Dragon started his plan to declare war against the World Government by completing some objectives. The first was to save Kuma and the slaves under the Celestial Dragons. Then, it was to halt the food and weapon supply of the Celestial Dragons, which they did through their raid on Dressrosa Kingdom.

The Revolutionary Army disrupted the trade routes from where the Celestial Dragon received their daily necessities, thus making them weaker from the inside as much as possible. Lastly, it is to declare war against the Celestial Dragon, which would cause Imu to take action.

This would be where the final war between the Revolutionary Army and the World Government could start, but Dragon wouldn't just have the aid of his Revolutionary Army. As teased in One Piece chapter 589, Dragon received some aid from a dojo situated on an island in the East Blue, where Zoro is from.

This could hint that Zoro's master, Koushirou, and other Shimotsuki clan members could also be allied with Dragon. But how will the final battle go against Imu? To fans' surprise, this has already been foreshadowed in an arc before.

During the Skypiea arc, the Shandains rebelled against the self-proclaimed God with Wyper as their leader. Similar to Wyper, Dragon is also someone who doesn't want to blend with the norms created by the people who have authority and rebel. The battle had its ups and downs, but it ended in the win of the Shandains.

Just like how Shandians were supported by the Straw Hat Pirates and other allies, Dragon could also be supported by his son's pirate crew, the Shimotsuki clan, and other allies. This would also be a payback for the time Dragon saved Luffy from Smoker in Loguetown.
