The Rocks Pirates are one of the most mysterious and strongest crews in One Piece that are yet to receive a spotlight in the series. Moreover, the origins of this pirate crew are also one of the most anticipated events because the fans want to know how a single pirate got powerhouses like Whitebeard and Kaido under a single flag. Surprisingly, the answer might be before the fandom already.

The Long Ring Long Land arc is without a doubt the most hated arc due to its unappealing antagonists, the Foxy Pirates. However, a key element that this arc introduced by the Davy Back Fight originated from the Pirate Island, Hachinosu Island.

With the Rocks Pirates getting assembled on the same island, the Davy Back Fight might be the answer behind the crew's assembly.

The Rocks Pirates is a mysterious and powerful pirate crew that was teased in One Piece chapter 957 / episode 258. To this day, the majority of details about this crew are still unknown but the known details indicated the overpowered nature of the crew.

The crew was assembled by one of the most notorious pirates, Rocks D Xebec, on Hachinosu Island (also known as Pirate Island).

The pirate crew had some of the strongest pirates which included Edward Newgate (Whitebeard), Kaido (the Strongest creature), Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom), and some other unknown ones who are yet to receive a proper spotlight in the series.

The pirate crew is famous for being involved in the God Valley Incident where they interrupted the Celestial Dragons' Native Hunting Competition to hunt them down. The pirate crew was defeated by an alliance between the Roger Pirates and Garp and 'supposedly' disbanded after this.

To this day, there is no telling how Xebec gathered such powerhouses under a single flag.

However, a famous fight in the past could be the reason behind Rocks recruiting such strong pirates and that fight was the Davy Back Fight. This fight was introduced in the Long Ring Long Land arc of One Piece by the Foxy Pirates who wanted to steal the crewmates from the Straw Hat Pirates.

As explained by Nico Robin, this fight was legitimate and had it originated from the Pirate Island (same as the Rocks Pirates). The fight consisted of two pirate crews partaking in different fights at the stake of a single crewmate.

Whoever won the fight would win the crewmate and to win that crewmate back, another Davy Back Fight was to be fought. Given their similar origins, the Davy Back Fight might be what Rocks D Xebec used to build the Rocks Pirates who had not formed their individual crews at that time.

This would also mean that Davy Jones could be one of the mysterious pirates of the Rocks Pirates.

Analysis and final thoughts

This theory piece might be one of the best ones considering how there is close to no counter against it for being a weak theory. Rocks D Xebec, being an absolute powerhouse, could be considered capable enough to lead strong pirates.

As indicated by this theory, this would add legitimacy to the fact that the Davy Back Fight was indeed a pirate game. Given their similar origins, this theory has the most chance of being true in the future.
