One Piece's latest spoilers may be a setup for the Void Century War's cause, and prove Dr. Vegapunk's interpretation true

One Piece chapter 1123 is set to be released on August 19, 2024, but the spoilers for the chapter have already been released. The chapter calmed down after the storm at Egghead Island as the Straw Hats and the Giants finally escaped the Five Elders. Moreover, the chapter showed a flashback, where the Vegapunks already knew about a traitor before the current situation.

The flashback showed how everyone speculated Vegapunk Lilith to be the traitor because she embodies the evil aspect. However, in reality, the traitor was Vegapunk York, who embodies greed. This could be an explanation as to why the scientist didn't blame anyone as 'evil' during his speech and also tell the reason behind why the Void Century War happened.

One Piece: Why Vegapunk York's reveal as a traitor indicates the true reason behind the Void Century War

While the other Straw Hat Pirates celebrated their escape from Egghead Island, Sanji was standing alone somewhere on the Going Merry, staring right into the corpse of Vegapunk as a flashback played from two weeks ago. Vegapunk Shaka discovered a change in the data about The Mother Flame, revealing that there could be a traitor amongst them.

While Vegapunk Stella and Shaka believed that Lilith could be the traitor, as she embodies evil' out of the Vegapunks, Vegapunk Pythagoras revealed that York was the one who altered the data of the Mother Flame. The Vegapunks also discovered later on that York gave the Five Elders a part of the Mother Flame.

In One Piece episode 1111, Vegapunk York was revealed as the traitor of Egghead Island, as she wanted to become a Celestial Dragon and helped the Five Elders in return for making her dream come true. She represents the 'greed' of the Vegapunks.

After this shocking reveal, let's return to Vegapunk's stream and see how his speech never focused on blaming a particular side but just revealed facts about the Void Century he knew about. The scientist even requested the people hearing his speech not to blame the opposite side as evil, as he himself was not sure what defines someone as 'evil.'

With the reveal in chapter 1123, the reason behind this could be that Vegapunk never expected the evil to harm, but rather the greedy. This puts us back to the Void Century War fought between the First Twenty Families and Joy Boy, the first pirate.

The reason behind this war everyone thought before the war was that the First Twenty family didn't want Joy Boy to spread the message of being free to the masses. However, with the recent reveal, the real reason behind the Void Century War could be the greed of the First Twenty Family wanting the Ancient Kingdom in their hands.

The Ancient Kingdom was known for its advanced technology, which surpassed the imagination of modern-day ones, as claimed by Vegapunk in the past. The existence of Emeth is the biggest example, that the Ancient Kingdom had machines that could easily be used for world domination, which could be the reason why the First Twenty Families declared war against Joy Boy.
