One Piece chapter 1129 has been recently leaked and revealed that one of the members of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, Road, is actually against the idea of joining this crew. This is coupled with the fact that it seems that some of the Giants in Dorry and Brogy's crew share a similar tattoo to that character, which could suggest an anti-Straw Hat sentiment in Elbaf.

An interesting idea that One Piece hasn't explored yet is islands where people are already familiar with the Straw Hats but don't like them. Typically, Luffy and his crew arrive as strangers and win people over, but facing a place where they're disliked could be a new challenge for them.

One Piece could be setting up anti-Straw Hat sentiment in the Elbaf arc

It has been pointed out on X by a user named @merlinidc that the human inside the Sun God's cage has the same tattoo as one of the Giants in Dorry and Brogy's crew, which could point out to some people in Elbaf holding anti-Straw Hat sentiment. This is something that was already shown with the leaks of chapter 1129, with Road refusing the idea of joining the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Although in early stages of the arc, it has been already shown some glimpses of manipulation and deceit as the Straw Hats were trapped by someone titled as the "Sun God", which is misguided because the real holder of said title is Nika. Therefore, it wouldn't be out of the question that this arc could be focused on the idea of lies and manipulating people.

Moreover, Elbaf is inspired by Norse mythology and there is the character of Loki, who is the Norse god of lies. There is a chance that author Eiichiro Oda is creating anti-Straw Hat sentiment through lies and manipulation, which also fits with the character of Usopp, who is known for lying and has a strong association with Elbaf, thus explaining why a lot of fans want this to be his arc.

What could this mean for the Straw Hats

As mentioned earlier, it would be one of the first times in One Piece where the Straw Hats would have to clean their names instead of winning over strangers as they usually do. There is also a very good chance that the World Government is in charge of lying to the people of Elbaf, perhaps motivated by the fact that they are people known for worshipping Nika, one of their sworn enemies.

It would also be interesting to see Usopp having a major role in this conflict because he is known as someone who tends to lie a lot. The idea of Usopp going up against Loki, the known god of lies, could be a thematically interesting conflict that could fit with the former's characterization and would also give him a much-needed push in this current arc.

Final thoughts

There is a very good chance that Oda is building some anti-Straw Hat sentiment in the current One Piece arc, especially considering the element of Road not wanting to join them and the false Sun God. It would also fit with the idea of Loki being involved in this conflict due to his myths as the god of lies.
