One Piece chapter 1121 has been recently leaked and there is a major focus on the Straw Hats trying to escape Egghead. The final page of the manga has left a very ominous cliffhanger that fuels the Shanks twin theory. That is because the final page shows someone who "looks like another Figarland and gives the same vibes as Shanks", thus leading a lot of fans to think this theory has come to fruition.

Since the Holy Knights of Mary Geoise were introduced in One Piece chapter 1083, the idea of Shanks having an evil twin that works for the World Government has become more and more prevalent in the fandom. It is due to the character's apparent connections to the Elders of the Gorosei and his mysterious behavior across the story, which appears to be inconsistent.

Thus, it gives the twin theory a bit more validity after this recently leaked chapter.

One Piece chapter 1121 has probably given the biggest hint for the Shanks twin theory

Now that chapter 1121 has been leaked, the appearance of a man who seems to give "the same vibes as Shanks" has turned the idea of the Yonko having a twin brother a lot more prevalent. And it is easy to see why and when this member of the Holy Knights of Mary Geoise has been connected to Shanks in this chapter, thus solidifying the theory as a whole.

Once Shanks arrived at Mary Geoise to talk with the Elders of the Gorosei, his connection and familiarity with them already seemed bizarre to several fans. Now it has been theorized that Shanks and his twin brothers came from a family of Celestial Dragons and the former was taken by Gol D. Roger during the events of God Valley, thus starting his journey as a pirate.

This theory could also be linked to the way Shanks seems to appear in every major moment of the story and has also been more careful with his moves because there could be someone impersonating him at the moment. It could also explain his political connections and even perhaps his relationship with Roger, which has never been truly explored in the manga.

The role of Shanks in the story

There is no denying that Shanks is one of the most mysterious characters in the entirety of One Piece and that is because very little is known of his motivations and the reasoning behind his actions. If the twin theory is disproven, then it means that he has connections with the Gorosei and the World Government that could be monumental for the story moving forward.

Moreover, it has long been speculated that Shanks would be one of the series' final antagonists and has been manipulating Luffy to do his bidding. While the reasoning behind these actions is yet to be explained, some theorize that it has to do with Gol D. Roger's will and how Shanks has been tasked to do something.

Final thoughts

One Piece chapter 1121 has given more validity to the theory that Shanks has an evil twin, although that is yet to be confirmed. However, it is almost certain that the Yonko must have some deep connections with the World Government based on what has been shown thus far in the story.
