One Piece's iconic swordsman, Roronoa Zoro, has recently gone viral on X through a fanart that takes him to the world of Pokémon. An artist on the platform, @DWalkn, came up with a fanart depicting Zoro with two major creatures of the early days of the series, Scyther and Farfetch'd, which has gathered positive reactions from both fandoms.
Zoro is seen in this fanart going back to the start of the franchise, Kanto region, where the series began, and sharing the battlefield with these two creatures— also there from the beginning. The fanart also features a unique art style, that shows the One Piece swordsman in a way that is quite different from what people are used to.

Roronoa Zoro from One Piece depicted in fanart with Farfetch'd and Scyther from Pokémon
The color could be one of the reasons that makes these characters similar for the artist, @DWalkn, to pair them together. Scyther is mostly covered in green, Zoro has his iconic green hairstyle, and Farfetch'd's weapon has always been colored in a similar fashion, which draws a connection.
Moreover, they are all characters who wield weapons of a similar style, with Zoro's three swords being some of the most iconic in the entirety of anime. Scyther's arms can serve as blades and Farfetch'd's leek has become iconic with his fighting style, perhaps being interpreted as a sword— thus drawing another comparison with the Straw Hat swordsman.
Some fans praised the decision, saying that these two creatures were a good fit for Roronoa Zoro's character, especially because of the sword motif and how they fit with the more straightforward approach of his fighting style. Many people also highlighted that the art style that captures the essence of these three characters.
Reactions online
Both Scyther and Farfetch'd were introduced during the Kanto days of the Pokémon franchise— widely known as Generation I— one of the most iconic periods of the franchise.
The former is oftentimes depicted as a capable hunter, whose fighting skills could be compared to Roronoa Zoro, while the latter is particularly fond of fighting one-on-one, which is something that could also be shown as a parallel to the Straw Hat swordsman.
When it comes to Roronoa Zoro, he was the first person to join Monkey D. Luffy's crew in One Piece, and has been a loyal friend and ally ever since. His determination to become the world's greatest swordsman, especially after fighting Dracule Mihawk and later learning from him, has become a major aspect of his character, and has made him a source of inspiration to people.
"Yo that’s such an accurate team line up! WHAT THE HECK ITS PERFECT," someone said.
"I'd give him a galarian farfetched," another person said.
There were a lot of different reactions online, with some praising the choice of characters, and others also pointing out small details regarding the art.
"I'm not into One Piece, but from the few episodes I watched, I liked Zoro the best. These are such awesome choices for his partner Pokemon!" someone said.
"Deserving for my boi Scyther," another person said.
This fanart was highly celebrated by both fandoms and shows how far they go in terms of passion for their favorite series.
