One Piece chapter 1118 is set to be released on June 24, 2024, and Bonney's powers, similar to Gear 5 Luffy, in this chapter, could be one of the biggest controversies in the series.

After getting tailed by Saint Marcus, Luffy transformed into Gear 5 and encouraged Bonney to do the same. Bonney had transformed into a Nika-like transformation in the past but it was just a partial transformation. Surprisingly, this time, she imagined a future with Nika and transformed into a form that resembled Gear 5 Luffy.

With the fandom over the edge regarding such a controversial transformation that makes the Nika form look like child play, the words of one of the Five Elders could give more clarification about it. According to Saint Saturn, Bonney's ability to transform into anything in the future is dependent on whether that thing exists in the future or not.

As per the spoilers, One Piece chapter 1118 commenced with the Gorosei drowning the Iron Giant deep into the sea as the latter called out JoyBoy. The chapter then shifted to the Dressrosa Kingdom where the citizens discussed the shutting down of Vegapunk's stream.

On the other hand, the Gorosei were seen planning on eradicating Vegapunk Atlas and Lilith as they were the only Vegapunk satellites left alive, according to Vegapunk York. But the good thing was that Luffy and Bonney were able to escape and mount the ship of the giants.

Unfortunately, they couldn't rest as Saint Marcus was flying their way and he wasn't ready to let anyone escape from Egghead Island. Luffy transformed into Gear 5 and told Bonney to do the same. She imagined a future with Nika by remembering her father's tales of the Sun God and transformed into a Nika form exactly like Luffy.

The fandom of One Piece had a different reaction to Bonney's powers that were just like Nika. The main argument of the fandom was that Bonney could use Nika's powers by just copying them, even though Luffy spent years perfecting his devil fruit and awakening.

So, the true essence of Bonney's powers was questioned, but the clarification of her true powers could come from the words of the person who gave Bonney her devil fruit power, Saint Saturn Jaygarcia.

In chapter 1103, Saint Saturn wreaked havoc on Egghead Island after Admiral Kizaru wasn't able to do much against the Straw Hat Pirates. He captured Bonney and the latter used Distorted Future: A Future Like Nika to counter the Gorosei. Saint Saturn was surprised as to how much her devil fruit had nurtured.

After rendering Bonney powerful, Saint Saturn revealed how he gave her the powers of a devil fruit as an experiment. They used a devil fruit extract and transplanted it into the body of Bonney when she was a baby. Saint Saturn then proceeded to explain the working of Bonney's devil fruit.

He explained that the devil fruit allows its user to transform into anything the user believes to be in the future. But the abilities of that transformation will be affected by the chances of that transformation happening in the future. This statement could be interpreted in two ways.

Bonney's latest Nika transformation was accurate because believed in a future with Nika, as she was standing next to him (Luffy Gear 5). So, Bonney's belief in the future plays the main role in her physical transformation as accurately as possible into the figure she wants.

Now, for how long she would be able to use the Nika form depends on how strong she would be in the future. Not only is Bonney's experience as a pirate less than Luffy's, but she also doesn't possess any Haki, at least it is not revealed yet.

So, the basic deduction would make her weaker than the true Nika (Luffy) thus hinting how her powers as Nika would not only be short-lived but would also be less effective than the real deal (Gear 5 Luffy).
