Saitama is the main character and protagonist of the One Punch Man manga/anime series. Saitama is an unaffiliated, self-contained superhero from Z-City who enjoys doing good deeds as a hobby and aspires to fame. Currently, he is the strongest of all the characters in the series.

Due to his superior strength, he has no genuine opponents from criminals or supervillains, which has left him bored and unhappy. Initially only a hero for fun, Saitama eventually registers with the Hero Association to become a professional hero. He is presently ranked 39th in A-Class and given the hero alias “Caped Baldy" by the Hero Association.

Saitama’s Life

Initially, Saitama was a simple man living an average life and faced daily struggles like any other individual. He lived a disciplined life with a job but soon he grew bored of it and aspired to do something more fulfilling and exciting. Soon, he starts extensive training along with a strict schedule and diet and continues the regime for three years to become extremely powerful.

However, Saitama didn’t gain any fame or recognition for his strength and powers even though he became unbeatable against any opponent. Eventually, he joins the Hero Association to fight challenging enemies and gain fame.

Saitama’s Abilities

As the series' strongest character, Saitama is the One-Punch Man, and his strength surpasses even artificial beings bred or designed for superhuman combat. Since Saitama has yet to face any true challenges from enemies, his strength may even be higher than it seems. Although his power is limited to heightened human traits (he can't fly or fire energy blasts), his superhuman abilities make up for the lack of variety in his powers.

Saitama's extraordinary strength has a mysterious and unclear origin. He claims to have gained his extraordinary strength through simple physical training, but no one finds this credible. He claims to have attained some level of superhuman strength after a year and a half of performing 100 push-ups, sit-ups and squats a day in addition to running 10 kilometers every day. Even with his incredible physical strength, Saitama can be outmatched by individuals who possess skills in other areas. He appears to have a normal human appetite as well.

Physical Abilities

Outmatched Strength: Saitama has virtually limitless physical strength, and with a single, light blow (though this strength is not limited to fists), he can easily overcome strong monsters and villains. Many monsters simply explode when hit by one of his tremendous blows. He also possesses the ability to destroy the Earth at will, and he has made threats to do so in the past when he becomes angry. Many characters have claimed that his strength is incomprehensible.

  • Enhanced Leap: Saitama's extraordinary leg strength makes up for some of his inability to fly, enabling him to leap enormous heights and distances quickly. Additionally, he was able to jump off a building's roof and smash it into its base. His incredible strength also allows him to jump while still in the air, changing the angle of his climb or descent.

  • Shockwave Generation: Saitama's punches can produce a tremendous shockwave.

Outmatched Speed and Reflexes: Saitama has unmatched speed and agility. He once leaped back up the building without anyone realizing that he had run down it to preserve a piece of fish he was eating for lunch. Ironically, he still struggles to squash a basic insect despite having unmatched reflexes and speed.

When Saitama had hair, he once tried to quickly turn his head to look at the rear of it in a mirror during a training session in which he succeeded in the end. It is likely that to accomplish this, he would need to move his head at lightning speed and have reflexes and reaction times that are equally fast. This would prevent the reflected image in the mirror from changing noticeably before his eyes could sense it.

  • Afterimage Creation: Saitama can make afterimages of himself because of his speed.

  • Superhuman Dexterity and Agility: Saitama can move any of his limbs at breakneck rates without faltering, and he won't stop until his target is destroyed. This is demonstrated on the Hero Association exam when he hits every mole perfectly on a Whack-A-Mole machine. He is flawless at avoiding and pulling off acrobatic moves. His reflexes allow him to move through even the tiniest streams and sidestep blows from as near as possible.

  • Water Running: He can run across an ocean at a high speed without hitting the water's surface.

Superhuman Endurance: Saitama has never been shown to wear out in battle after being excessively strong from his training regimen. He was only ever seen panting and gasping for air after sprinting nonstop, and he recovered in a matter of seconds. Even before he acquired his superhuman strength, he was still able to repress pain. This has been shown multiple times.

Superhuman Sight: Saitama has superhuman vision. He has incredible tracking abilities as well; he can focus on an object moving quickly for extended periods without losing sight of it. He can also see well in the dark.

Invulnerability: Saitama has unmatched toughness and resilience, withstanding attacks from the strongest Mysterious Beings without suffering even the least damage. In actuality, no character has ever managed to physically hurt or even damage him. He would much rather deflect or avoid attacks with edged weapons than meet them head-on, as he occasionally does with blows from fists or blunt things.

  • Internal Durability: Saitama's critical organs are likewise quite robust and hence very resistant to injury, in addition to his flesh and muscles being tough and athletic.

  • Extreme Temperature Resistance: Saitama can withstand temperature-based attacks very well. Furthermore, he is immune to countless point-blank nuclear explosions and can bear their extreme heat without even flinching. He could do this because he refrained from using the heater or air conditioner while he was training.

  • Radiation Resistance: Saitama's body has a high radiation resistance.

  • Psychic Resistance: Saitama is immune to psychic energy. Fubuki pointed out in the original webcomic that Saitama's incredible willpower is the source of his resistance to psychic power; the manga doesn't address this.

Vacuum Adaptation: Saitama can hold his breath effortlessly even in space, demonstrating his extraordinary control of breathing. Despite the lack of atmosphere and increased radiation exposure, he can leap from the Moon back to Earth quickly without exhibiting any symptoms of suffocation.

His body can adapt to and endure conditions on other planets where oxygen is either sparse or nonexistent. These accomplishments imply that Saitama is also capable of enduring the harsh conditions of space, at least for a reasonable amount of time, given his remarkable resistance to cosmic radiation and superhuman endurance.

Accelerated Development: Following his training regimen for nearly a year, Saitama saw that his body had adjusted to move with the strength he had always imagined for a true hero. Consequently, he began to experience a sharp increase in power and developed unmatched physical skills, which is evidenced by his remarkable growth rate. Saitama appears to have limitless development potential ever since he removed his natural limiter.

Supernatural Abilities

Non-Physical Interaction: Saitama can separate his consciousness from his body to intrude into mental spaces. He can also latch onto and reroute the space portals, which are used to travel to other places.

Mimicry: Saitama has the extraordinary capacity to pick up and imitate new skills after only one observation. He was even able to duplicate Garou's time-traveling ability, demonstrating an extraordinarily high degree of mimicking.

  • Time Travel: This is a method that Garou taught Saitama. Saitama achieved time travel by replicating Garou's ability to control subatomic particles inside his body and make them act like anti-particles. He was able to stop the Ominous Future from happening again by accessing the past. Saitama has also forgotten how to employ this time travel method, having forgotten the events of the Ominous Future thereafter.

Fighting Style

Master Hand-to-Hand Combat: Saitama has gained vast fighting expertise from numerous battles with monsters and villains. He usually doesn't concentrate on technique and instead relies on simple assaults because of his immense might and the boredom that follows. Unlike martial artists, he uses his unwavering strength to support his simple but effective combat style.

But in the end, he decides to stick with fighting, preferring to use simple but effective strikes over martial arts. He finds it more enjoyable to be a simple brawler than to learn difficult moves as his natural strength and speed are more than enough to defeat his opponents. Additionally, Saitama uses grappling techniques and karate chops to subdue opponents he doesn't wish to kill or simply to silence his critics.

Improvisation: Saitama is an expert user of improvised weaponry. He is skilled at improvising in general; if he is unable to punch his opponent or end a fight, he always finds a different way to win and uses special techniques backed by his incomprehensible strength. He has used his Serious Headbutt and Serious Table Flip in a few of these situations.

Supernatural Accuracy: Saitama always hits the thing he focuses on, giving the impression that he has virtually flawless precision. He can transform a rock into a lethal projectile that strikes its target.

Normal Series: Saitama's Normal Series consists of moves where he attacks with minimal effort. His incredible power and speed allow him to kill off most opponents with ease, even though his blows are loose in this style.

  • Normal Punch: His punch is so strong that it can blow apart opponents, even Dragon-level threats, break their skulls and bones, or even decapitate them, even though he puts little to no effort into it. However, when it comes to humans, Saitama holds back a lot, using just enough power to knock them out.

  • Consecutive Normal Punches: Saitama uses one or both of his hands to deliver a rapid barrage of blows. These blows have enough force to tear huge bodies to pieces. Additionally, Saitama can throw a series of fast blows with both hands as opposed to just one.

Killer Move: Serious Series

Saitama exerts greater effort with his attacks in the Serious Series. When he executes these "serious" attacks, his face appears more serious. He doesn't think these moves are all that great, even with incredible strength.

  • Serious Punch: Saitama packs a rather strong blow. His blow was so powerful that it not only neutralized Boros's Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon, a beam that could wipe out an entire planet but it also negated Boros's ability to use it altogether.

  • Omnidirectional Serial Punch: Saitama leaps from several directions to produce a sequence of afterimages, all of which encircle and hit the adversary with a Serious Punch, apparently blocking their escape.

  • Serious Side Hops: He leaps quickly back and forth, generating a wall of afterimages.

  • Serious Squirt Gun: He shoots a spray of extremely high pressure by dipping his palms into liquid.

  • Serious Table Flip: He tosses a big chunk of ground into the air by pressing his fingers deeply into the earth.

  • Serious Sneeze: Saitama just gives a little sneeze. He sneezed during his battle with Garou on Io, and it traveled a long way before striking and damaging Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system.

  • Serious Headbutt: He simply headbutts his opponents, though the blow is powerful enough to break bones.

Miscellaneous Abilities

Keen Perception: Saitama possesses an extraordinary capacity to look past people's outward appearances and understand the hidden reasons behind their actions. However, he only does well when he approaches it seriously.

Power Control: Saitama has proven that he can control his immense and overwhelming physical strength. He can control how much power he wants to use by adjusting the energy output of his fists and can reduce unintentional environmental harm thanks to this control.

Strong Teeth: When Sonic throws a sword at him during one of their battles, Saitama easily defeats the attack by biting through the weapon.

Strong Farts: After suffering a stomachache and being launched into the air during his battle with Garou, Saitama let out a powerful fart, which provided him with enough momentum to quickly catch up to the Hero Hunter.

Intimidation: Those who are aware of Saitama's power are terrified of him, even though he does not appear frightening at first. He only needs to threaten someone he doesn't like or finds bothersome with a few sharp words to make them cower in dread.

Indomitable Will: It has been shown that Saitama has extraordinary willpower. The flashback to his hero training program makes it clearer. He persisted in his training despite being in excruciating agony and having trouble moving or coughing up blood. He overcame his natural limiter by sheer drive and determination, turning himself into an unstoppable hero.

Surfing Skills: Saitama has proven that he can surf a massive wave even while carrying heavy objects such as aircraft.
