With the release of Oshi no Ko chapter 154, the manga series saw Aqua Hoshino and Hikaru Kamiki together watch Ai Hoshino's DVD that she had given Taishi Gotanda to hand over to Aqua when he got older. Through the DVD, Hikaru learned how Ai truly felt about him and what the '15 Year Lie' meant.

The previous chapter saw Hikaru Kamiki express how his relationship with Ai was one-sided. While he loved Ai, she did not love him back. Thus, when she broke up with him, he killed her out of spite. That's when Aqua Hoshino hinted at Ai's DVD, suggesting that Hikaru had misinterpreted the meaning of '15 Year Lie.'

Oshi no Ko chapter 154, titled '15-Year Lie,' picked up from where the previous chapter ended. Hikaru Kamiki, upon being shaken by Ai's request to break up, asked her the reason behind it. Ai revealed that she was pregnant with his child. In response, Hikaru suggested that they get married. However, Ai could not see herself getting married to him.

Hikaru Kamiki had a child with Airi Himekawa, Taiki Himekawa. This fact was too big of a burden to Ai. Hence, Ai asked him to end their relationship as she could not fall in love with him. While Hikaru was heartbroken, he understood Ai's sentiments as it was only inevitable for her to break up with him after he caused the deaths of Seijuro Uehara and Airi Himekawa.

Right after, the manga saw Hikaru Kamiki telling Aqua that while he had given Ai's fan Ryosuke the address to her house, he only wished her to face some despair and never intended for the situation to escalate into murder.

Aqua then asked his father if he believed Ai's words. Hikaru immediately affirmed that he believed her words as it was only natural for a human being to protect themselves by keeping themselves away from danger. With that, Hikaru reiterated that Ai never loved him just like everyone else.

Aqua Hoshino immediately questioned Hikaru's statement, that if Ai never loved Hikaru, she shouldn't have given birth to his children. Right after, Aqua could be seen holding Ai's DVD. According to Aqua, the film's initial screening was incomplete as he was still in discussion with the staff on whether the contents in Ai's DVD should be added to the film's end credits or not.

Oshi no Ko chapter 154 then saw Aqua and Hikaru watching Ai Hoshino's DVD together. The video was directed toward Aqua as Ai revealed that the reason she broke up with his father was because he had reached his limit. The entertainment industry had tainted him, hence amidst all the chaos she could not bring herself to burden him with her pregnancy.

There was a time when she was afraid of giving birth to Aqua and Ruby. However, deep down, despite wanting Hikaru to be happy with someone else, she gave birth to them, hoping to one day share the burden of raising their children together. That was the first time Ai loved someone. With that, Ai asked Aqua whether the words she said to her father were lies or not. Lastly, she also asked Aqua and Ruby to save their father if he seemed lost in the future as well.

With that, Aqua Hoshino revealed that Ai's words to Hikaru, "I can't love you," were acted out as a lie by Ruby in the movie. Hence, the movie's title '15 Year Lie' was referring to Ai's lie to Hikaru about not loving him. In fact, the movie was Ai Hoshino's love letter to Hikaru Kamiki that had transcended time. It also served the purpose of revenge for Aqua and Ruby against Hikaru for failing to understand their mother's feelings.
