With the release of Oshi no Ko chapter 159, the manga revealed the aftermath of Fuyuko Niino stabbing "Ruby Hoshino." This development left fans scared as had Ruby actually been stabbed unprepared, she could have passed away just like her mother Ai Hoshino died at the beginning of the series.
Even if she had survived the ordeal, there was a chance that her injury might have caused the final B-Komachi live concert to get canceled or postponed. Such a development could have essentially ruined Kana Arima's farewell segment.
But as revealed by Oshi no Ko chapter 159, none of such events transpired. This is because Akane Kurokawa saved the day once again. With that, fans started hailing her as the true protagonist of the manga series.

How did Akane Kurokawa save Ruby Hoshino in Oshi no Ko chapter 159?
As seen at the end of Oshi no Ko chapter 158, on Christmas Day, wanting to stop Ruby Hoshino from surpassing her mother Ai as an idol, Fuyuko Niino stabbed her at her doorstep. This scene reminded fans of Ai's death, leaving fans worried about the young idol.
However, as revealed by Oshi no Ko chapter 159, it was never Ruby but Akane Kurokawa who was stabbed by Niino. Akane had disguised herself as Ruby with a wig. In addition, she had worn a knife-proof vest to protect herself. As for the real Ruby, she was already at the concert site, preparing for the performance. With that, Akane succeeded in protecting Ruby.
Fans should also remember that Akane was prepared for this event days ago, which is why she attended B-Komachi's Miyazaki concert.
Why are fans hailing Akane as the true MC of Oshi no Ko?
Fans know that Aqua and Ruby Hoshino are the real protagonists of the manga series. Nevertheless, they hail Akane as its main character because she has always had a huge impact on the storyline. This was an aspect both the real protagonists were often shown lacking.
There are several important plot points in the story that were only possible due to Akane's intervention. In fact, some of these plot points did not even involve Aqua and Ruby, hence Akane was essentially left to do their job in the series.
Moreover, unlike Aqua Hoshino whose deductions about Hikaru Kamiki took place off-screen, fans got to witness Akane Kurokawa making her deductions in real time. In any form of media, the character who deduces the mystery is considered the protagonist. Hence, it was odd for Akane to take on such a role but never be treated as such.
Therefore, following the developments in Oshi no Ko chapter 159 which saw Akane saving Ruby and questioning Niino about her past actions, fans could seemingly no longer bear the injustice done to Akane Kurokawa. Thus, they hailed the Lala Lai actress as the series's true protagonist.
