With the release of Oshi no Ko chapter 164, the manga series finally confirmed the fate of Aqua Hoshino. While the protagonist had sacrificed himself to protect his sister Ruby Hoshino's future, fans refused to believe that the protagonist would meet his end. Shockingly, that's just what happened in the manga.
The previous chapter saw Crow Girl showing Aqua Hoshino a dream where Sarina Tendouji recovered from her disease and became a B- B-Komachi idol alongside Ai Hoshino. The manga later saw Crow Girl consoling Aqua about his doubts and assuring him that he had always been Aqua Hoshino.

Oshi no Ko chapter 164: Kana Arima learns about Aqua's death
Oshi no Ko chapter 164, titled Final Act, opened with the aftermath of B-Komachi live tour as Kana Arima could be seen looking for Aqua Hoshino after the show. Unfortunately, Mem-Cho had no clue about his location. In the meantime, Ruby Hoshino was greeting her fans backstage.
Oshi no Ko chapter 164 then switched to Aqua Hoshino as he was sinking into the sea. He was in pain, felt cold, and had begun regretting his decision. All he wanted at the time was for his life to end so that he would not have to endure the suffering any longer. Just then, Aqua happened to hear the sound of the B-Komachi members singing, or so he thought. With that, Aqua Hoshino passed away with a smile on his face.
Oshi no Ko chapter 164 then experienced a minor time skip as the 15-Year Lie movie became a hit and the people from Ichigo Production learned about Aqua's death. Kana Arima was especially devastated after learning about his death.
As for Akane Kurokawa, she could be seen talking to deceased Aqua by visiting him at the sea. She wanted to convey to him all that happened after his death. Aqua's body was found by a fisherman nearly 20 kilometers away from the crime scene. Fortunately, his body only had minor damage due to the cold winter sea.
As for the media, they believed that Hikaru Kamiki killed Aqua Hoshino resentfully. However, Akane realized the truth much earlier. Aqua had sacrificed himself to protect Ruby's future. However, she couldn't believe that Aqua would go to such an extent. This is because, to her, it seemed like Aqua wanted to live and was definitely going to return.
Hence, Akane asked Aqua why he had not asked her for help. If he wanted to, she could have come up with the perfect murder plan to take down Hikaru Kamiki. She was not only ready to become a murderer but also got to hell as long as it was with Aqua. With that, Akane seemingly started crying by the seashore.
