With the Oshi no Ko finale inching closer, the manga's spoilers leaked out a few days before the final chapter's official release. Unfortunately, just as fans predicted after reading the previous chapters, the manga's ending is set to be far from satisfactory.

Considering that Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's manga started on a sad note, fans expected the series to end positively, one that would see its protagonist live a fulfilled life. However, that was far from the case. Hence, many fans expressed their discontent over the manga's unsatisfactory ending online.

Why are fans disappointed by the Oshi no Ko finale?

Fans are truly disappointed by the Oshi no Ko manga due to how manga author Aka Akasaka treated Aqua Hoshino at the end of the series. The series' protagonist had gone through a lot. Hence, fans wished for him to live a happy life at the end of the series, one where he would finally be able to love someone and not care about revenge anymore.

Instead, the manga series saw Aqua commit suicide to protect Ruby Hoshino's future as an idol. There were several paths the manga creator could have taken at the end of the series. However, he took the worst route possible, leaving many plotlines meaningless.

Thus, fans were left very discontent by the ending, asking what was even the point of the manga. Fans wished to see a story where the two protagonists Aqua and Ruby lived a happy life. Instead, what the manga portrayed was something completely opposite. Aqua committed suicide after being confronted with the slightest challenge, while Ruby lived a life full of lies to continue her idol career.

How fans reacted to the Oshi no Ko finale

Many fans regretted supporting the manga. The series' start had essentially portrayed it to be a good unique thriller idol manga. This is why many fans supported it and purchased its manga volumes and were left hyped after learning about its anime adaptation.

Unfortunately, as the manga proceeded further toward its ending, it became clear to them that they were set for a disappointing story ending. With that in mind, some fans also accused manga author Aka Akasaka of getting bored by his story, leading to a rushed ending.

"Ep 1 tricked the masses into thinking it was a good unique thriller idol manga," one fan said.
"I remember how hype I was when the anime got announced, now I don’t even care about it at all," another added.
"To make many people, myself included regret buying this," another fan said.
"Show off the issues of idol industry and do nothing else," other fan said.

While other fans were also disappointed by the ending and regretted supporting the manga, they pointed out how the manga did a good job showcasing the issues surrounding the entertainment industry. Unfortunately, that was about all that the Aka Akasaka manga accomplished as per them.
