Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 13, titled 'Wish,' premiered on Sunday, October 6, 2024. With its release, the anime concluded its second season and finished adapting the Private Arc.

While the anime may have not caused as big waves as it did with its first season, the sequel season was truly brilliant as Doga Kobo went above and beyond in giving the 2.5D Stage Play and Private Arcs the adaptation they deserved.

As for the anime's final episode, it majorly focused on Ruby Hoshino's transition from a happy-go-lucky idol to a vengeful character. In addition, it gave fans a good glimpse at the presumed father of Aqua and Ruby Hoshino.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 13 review: Animation and creative liberty

Since the start of the anime, fans have noted how well Doga Kobo has been animating the sequel season for the manga created by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari. The same pattern was followed in the anime's season finale as the animation studio did not mess up with animation in any scene. The line art, animation, movements, and perspectives were as great as possible.

As for creative liberty, up until now, the anime had shuffled the chronology of events on multiple occasions for a seamless transition between scenes. However, in the final episode, the studio remained true to the source material until post ending theme song scene.

As for other forms of creative liberties, the anime followed the abstract animations seen in the previous episodes to display the change in emotions. This was especially the case for the transition from Ruby Hoshino's white starry eyes to black starry eyes. That particular scene was very similar to Aqua Hoshino's eye transformation when he was just four years old.

Speaking of creative liberties, Doga Kobo also released a music video for B-Komachi's "Pop in 2" song. This not only meant that the animation studio commissioned the creation of an original song but also the animation of a music video from scratch. Surprisingly, Ruby Hoshino's black starry eyes were also featured in the said music video.

Narrative changes

As mentioned above, Doga Kobo pretty much stayed true to the source material when adapting the anime's final episode. The only difference the studio showcased was the scene featuring Aqua and Ruby's father. He had seemingly killed another popular aspiring figure from the entertainment world. This scene originally takes place nearly 30 chapters later. Hence, with the scene, Doga Kobo only wished to build up hype for the series' next season.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 13 was perfect and acted as the perfect conclusion for the anime's sequel season. The episode was not only able to set up the anime's next story arc but also left fans yearning to learn more about Aqua and Ruby's father. Overall, Oshi no Ko Season 2 far surpassed the expectations set by the anime's first season. Hence, one can only hope for the anime to receive its rightful praise.
